Rifle Scopes ring/mount combos

If you mount your scope in a set of 20 moa rings and attach it to a 20 moa base do they add up to 40 total moa.

I know I should just get a 40 moa base but here in CT its hard to find s range with more than 400ish yds. I'm just looking at options if I get a chance to go real far.

I thank so why would u need 40 moa if u are only shooting 400 yards

Ive got an itch to take a trip up north where I have friends who have acces to TONS of land that we could go wsy past 1k. And im still work8ng on a farmer friend of mine who has plenty of land to go out to maybe 1800-2k. My normal range is only about 400.

Yes 20 + 20 equals 40. Might have issues with a 100 yd zero unless your scope has a lot of elevation adjustment. And the caliber would be useful info.

Sorry bout that. 338LM. Sightron siii 10-50x60 .05 mrad/click. Right now with just a 20 moa rail I have almost 5 mrads (80 clicks) before I hit the bottom of the elevation adjustment. I think.... im new to long range shooting and im still learning.

All that was with a 100 yd zero.

You will bottom out before you get to a 100 yard zero with another 20 MOA as 5 mils is 17.25 MOA. That said it might not be a problem with a 338 Lapua. You can just use a 200 yard zero unless you do alot of 100 yard shooting.
