I just had email conversation with someone there and was told Robar was going out of business at the end of the month.

I really liked their NP3 coating on bolts and wanted to send in another batch of parts for coating.

Hopefully everyone there lands in their feet. Wishing them the best of luck.

Sad, to know, i hate to hear about quality US companies going out of business. Their NP3 finish is/was outstanding.

CCR Refinishing has a very similar finish that is also great. They're another really nice and excellent company.

They used to do the coatings for Patriot Ordnance Factory's AR rifles. They (POF) stopped those models this year so maybe that lack of business hurt them. Bummer.

I do believe we are heading into a major crash in the firearms industry.

You may be right, at least for now. Give it a year and there’ll probably be another run on things, but for now, there are too many players. Those who have over-specialized, are too new to have established themselves, or are companies that have sat too long on the old way of doing things (processes and pricing) are feeling the squeeze right now. It will be interesting to see which ones survive...

Well that sucks. I wanted to send my Kahr K9 down to Robar for full NP3 coating. It’s from the 3rd year of production with a trigger as smooth as butter, but the finish is getting pretty thin. Guess I’ll have to find something else comparable...

The only run I see coming next year is a AMMO and MAG RUN before the elections. Give it 6 months to really heat up.

I had them do a bolt, lost the ejector spring, replaced it with the wrong spring, they gave me the run around, i fixed it on my own. Coating was nice though.

Sad news.
I still have a Rem 700 that they built for me over 20 years ago.
Takes modified M14 mags. From before the time anyone made detachable mags for them.

not sure but their home page only discusses Glock pistol gunsmith work., nothing about refinishing ...and on their order page they posted the following message:
***WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ANY PART OR FIREARMS FOR CUSTOM GUNSMITH WORK, REPAIRS ,OR METAL FINISH. CONTACT US VIA EMAIL AT [email protected]PRIOR TO SHIPPING ANY PARTS OR FIREARMS AND WE WILL PROVIDE ORDER FORMS AND INSTRUCTIONS. ANY FIREARMS OR PARTS SENT PRIOR TO CONTACTING US OR WITHOUT ORDER FORMS WILL BE RETURNED TO SENDER. ***

Wow, you're right. When you click through to the finishes page, there used to be all sorts of info about the options they offer. I learned so much from just digging through their site once upon a time.

The blog is still up but everything else is gone now.
