Rock solid chassis!!!!!!

I just got off the phone with Todd. I wont go into detail exactly the conversation, but he was VERY apologetic and wanted the stock back ASAP. He is going to ship me out a new stock with the correct rail installed straight.

I will say this: shit happens and its how you clean up the shit that matters.

I apologized to him that I was a little upset last night and have since calmed down and he completely understood. He was mad as well at the situation.

So I am cautiously optimistic that this will be taken care of appropriately and in short order.

I got my stock on Friday and tossed my setup into it and hit the range over the weekend to check for any zero shift. I didn't do a whole lot of shooting but it shot great and I love how the stock feels. I've got a match coming up this weekend.

Just wanted to post that Todd took care of me on my stock.

I sent the stock back to him and he replaced it with a new one that he put the rail section on. Got it the other day and everything was 100% good to go with the replacement stock.

LOL. I have your rail.

So it goes like this... I order a Rock Solid back in the beginning of July. I ask him to install a piece of rail on it, and it came with a small piece of MI (midwest industries) rail. It's a tiny short for the Atlas clamp but not a huge deal. I tell him I'm getting a second stock used and if he could mail my stock to me with an additional piece of rail (that I would pay for) I'd like to install it on the used stock when I get it. Which he did. Well that stock fell through so I figured I'd order another one from him and an additional one for a friend. I mail him the check WITH that piece of rail back and ask him to install it on the one he's going to send me. This way having identical pieces of rail on both stocks so I don't need to adjust the width of the Atlas clamp when switching it back and forth. A month goes by and after many calls, texts, an email or two etc. I told him PLEASE install that piece of rail I sent you on my stock before shipping it. I heard from him once or twice, one time saying he couldn't install that rail because it didn't have the "center section" so he'd send my rail piece back to me. I thought this was extremely weird since he already sent me a stock with that identical piece of rail on it. Anyway.... the stocks finally show about 6 weeks after I ordered them. Low an behold my stock shows up with that same cheap $3 piece of rail pictured above and someone's Badger rail in the bag. My piece of rail is nowhere to be found.

I really, really like the stocks but I REALLY wanted the same piece of rail installed on both of them because as we all know most picatinny rails are actually different widths and I've gotta adjust the Atlas QD clamp every time now when I switch them.

I told him he sent me someone else's piece of rail and never got a response. I would have sent my stock back but I was in a bind and needed it THAT weekend for a match. So now it's used and I probably can't

Kinda bummed on the whole experience but really like the stocks.

One nagging question , why is BLACK not a Standard Color ??? $90 option ? really ???

not 100% sure, but the stocks are anodized and I think his "gray" is what most would consider "black", but he doesnt because its probably not a deep black as most would think so he offers them as "gray" instead. I think when he does a color its not anodized, I dont know if its cerakote, or some other coating, but the custom color ones I have seen pictures of appear to be a finish other than anodized.

I am trying to find out some specific info on these stocks. Not much info on the website. I have actually ordered a left hand stock for a Rem 700 short action. I want to make sure I understand what 308 magazines work with this stock. This stock is designed to work with AI AICS magazines. It will not work with AI AW mags. Is this correct? I know they are designed to accommodate Remington 700 short action type of receivers. Are there any triggers that work better than others with this stock? I have a Huber Concepts trigger I want to use. Will this trigger work?

Have a Rock Solid stock coming in myself. Todd was gracious enough to donate a gift certificate to a match a while ago. Looking at all of these pictures really get me wishing I already had mine. Todd, I know your a busy man, but maybe you could send me a message to give me a status update. I'll leave my phone number below, just in case you have misplaced it.

Thanks again,
Chance

Anybody heard from Todd in the last three or four weeks? I've got emails, Facebook messages, texts, and voicemails in, but haven't had a response on any of them, and his voicemail inbox is now full.

Stock's paid for, but was held up over a rail installation, of all things. :)

I had a heads up from him just over two weeks ago he was shipping my stock that week and that the delay had been due to family issues. I called/txt'd to say I've not received the stock. Haven't heard back. I sympathize with 'shit happens'. If I don't hear back with a tracking number by end of next week I'll go with a refund and look for something else.

My stock is long overdue as well. I originally emailed Todd to ask some specific questions about availability of a left hand stock for a short action Rem700/308action. He said he actually had one like I needed ready to ship. Since I already had my action, barrel, and trigger in hand, I decided to mail out a check to Todd because he said..."I have one ready to ship." He received my cashiers check three days later. I expected to get a stock within a week or 10 days. That time passed. I emailed about the stock twice with no answer. I actually was able to call and talk to him. He said he was waiting on some small parts to be returned from the anodizing company. He said he should be shipping my stock in a few days. About seven weeks has passed now. No word at all on the status of my order. I guess there is no way to find out either. I based my decision to go ahead and buy his stock because he said..."I have one ready to ship" and I would not have to wait. So much for that. I too would be happy with a refund at this point. I would like to either receive my stock I ordered or a refund as soon as possible so I can try to get a stock somewhere else. I know life can be tough at times. I have my share of "stuff" from time to time. That is why I think the easiest/best thing to do is just refund money for those that do not want to wait for a stock.

I'm shakin' my head reading these posts.

Not to defend RS because it seems obvious that they need to improve on their communication skills with their customers.

But, I am also seeing bad business decisions on the customer's part. Making childish assumptions, not having things go your way, THEN posting on SH. Really?
There's a HUGE difference between hearing "I have one ready to ship" and "I have this one ready to ship to you".
It is upon hearing the second phrase you would send a check with expectations of getting the stock you discussed, not the first one. The poor guy can't read your mind. Sheez.

Or, airing out your dirty laundry on the internet WHILE negotiating with the business owner then trying to head off the consequences that you didn't mean to happen? I saw it coming a mile away! It's no wonder what so ever to me the very first post after yours was negative toward the company. You totally asked for it.

If RS or another company has a bad business transaction with a SH member I doubt you will see anything about it here.
If something goes wrong with so many SH members you get an immediate knee jerk post throwing the business owner under the bus for all the world to see even if the SH member contributed to the problem! I see it all the time.

If we all think before we post the forecast for shit storms would be greatly reduced and there would be less drama to sort through to get to the good stuff.
Not to mention the improvement on the firearm owner's image. This ain't the Jerry Springer show. Give me a freaking break already.

WTF are you talking about???? Its funny how the day after I posted my comment I was contacted by Todd wanting to take care of my issues, after not returning several calls, emails, FB messages etc. Unless you have a dog in this fight why don't you mind your own fucking business??? If I had read this thread after it went south, I would have never sent my money to this company. And BTW I never did get my refund I was told I was getting. I guess he needs the money....

"Ready to ship means" put me in a GOD DAMN BOX and ship me because I am ready to SHIP!!!!!!

Please tell me you don't vote.

I have read that the ergo's of the RS stock are really nice. I'd like to hear some opinions (from those with hands on experience) on how they compare ergonomically to other stocks like the XLR or Manners T4 and T5 or something from KRG, or something else?

Thanks.

A stock/chassis is highly user subjective. What I think is great, may not fit you at all. It's a trial and error process of just finding what fits you best. Over the last 3 months, I've picked up 4 Rock Solids. After buying the first one, I knew it was a stock that fit me perfectly and did everything I wanted it to. Mine have all been bought used. One of them in fact was one that was mentioned in this thread. I've had T3's, T4A's, T5A's, KRG W3, A5, KMW's, and a JAE 700. After using the Rock Solid, I would pick it everytime over any of those I've had in the past. They just work for me. They are primarily for tac/prac match shooting, but I use them for hunting as well. They are great and well thought out for the purpose they were intended to serve.

As for Todd.....all I'm going to say is he is a very hard person to get ahold of and even harder to get product from. I have requested a couple new cheek pieces and some extra butt spacers from him. I hope I get them in a reasonable amount of time without too much trouble and nagging.

Aah, the apologist...

Don't be ridiculous, the customer who has PAID IN FULL has no duty to protect the rep of the supplier who is uncommunicative and misleading. Twice now I've heard, "I will ship yours today/this week" and nothing... But I suppose it's my fault. I've asked for a full refund. Let's wait and see if that turns up.

"the poor guy can't read your mind." that's funny! What did he think I gave him the money for...!?!

If my refund is not forth coming then the next call I make won't be to Todd. It'll be to the police to register a complaint of fraud/theft or whatever the hell else can be thrown at it.

Todd contacted me a few minutes ago and was very apologetic about not shipping my stock. He told me he is working to fix his problems. He promised to get the train back on the tracks and roll forward with these orders. He said he was shipping my stock today. I am not trying to do anything other than state the facts and let everyone know what happened this morning concerning my order.

I received my stock a couple of days ago. Stock looks great and just in time for Christmas! I recently spoke a rep that Todd seems to have working for him (James). He was very helpful and said that With his help Rock Solid was going to get customer service back to where it should be. As I already knew James informed me that in the past months Todd has had a lot going on in his life, not to mention running two companies. Sounds like things are really looking up. That's great news because these stocks are awesome and I'd hate to see them go away.

Thank You Rock Solid! Merry Christmas, and God bless you guys!

As the originator of this thread I think I should post my whole transaction since everything has already transpired.
JULY 9th
I sent my money order for my stock with Todd saying it would take 5-8 days to ship my stock, it took 3.5 weeks. No biggy compared to manners/ McMillan but if you say you can ship quickly try to stick to it.

AUG 8th
I received the stock and put it into my action, and actuated the bolt and the firing pin slowly went forward as I got to locking it down. It turns out the remington xmark pro trigger is too wide for this particular stocks trigger housing, so I contacted Todd and he promptly got back to me with not a text but he called me and advised me to dremel out some material where the sears and safety were being pinched against the stock. So I did and it worked but one of the action screws that go along with this stock bent. So I contacted Todd and he said he would send me some more free of charge.

AUG 25th
So I waited for two weeks and none came. I contacted him and he said the mail must've lost them that he would send me some more.

SEP 19th
I waited for a month and no action screws. So I contacted him again saying you probably forgot and he did admit to me that he did forget and he would send me some more.

OCT 8th
I contacted him again saying I still haven't gotten them and he said they should be there any day he had sent them out regular mail.

OCT 25th
I contacted him saying I hope you sent them out because it's getting close to whitetail season and I would like to use my gun for that purpose with no response.

NOV 6th
I did receive my action screws in the nick of time for whitetail season!

He replied "No problem I guess the third time was the charm that and not using USPS or ups"
Did he actually send them out and get them lost twice? I don't know but I'm not going to call anyone a liar by any form.

Todd was extremely helpful in getting my stock into working order, although I would've preferred a drop in fit as I expected it to be.

All in all I love the stock! It is "rock solid" and I love the feel of it. I hope they do get this CS stuff figured out because they have a great product here. I just thought I would come on here and share my story as the originator of this thread and also my situation being done and handled.

Regards,
Andrew

I hope customer service picks up.....
I own 4 Rock Solids. I bought all of them used from other members (because it was fucking impossible to get them from Todd). However, 3 of them are worthless to me because I can't seem to get new cheek pieces (old ones split apart) or extra butt spacers to fit my LOP. Two of them I bought from a female shooter and the LOP is way too short. I've tried to contact & txt Todd atleast 4 times over the last 2 months with no reply. So, I guess these 3 extra Rock Solids that I paid for will just sit in the fucking safe since I can't get any parts for them. Hey.....atleast I got one I can use, right?

I would say just hang in there. Try to contact him again. He will take care of you just has a lot going on right now.

Ordered mine today. Can anyone tell me how well it will accept aics 10 round mags instead of the 5's? It's long action so will be the aics 300 win mag magazines.
Also, are there any grips it wont take? Looking towards magpul.

My short action accepts the .308 5 and 10 rounders very well. The 5 rounders sir flush with the bottom of the stock which is amazing for hunting, and the 10 rounders go in and out with ease. It is also nice for comps that the magazine well protrudes down so that the magazine never had any pressure placed on it when shooting from a barricade.

So I sent him an email stating I wanted to buy a chassis. I got a reply back asking what color I wanted, then a reply back stating "I'll put you down for a green one". Is this the norm? Short emails? Does he contact you when your stock is in the que? Just wonder if I should keep emailing or wait til he gets back to me.

My suggestion is to keep in touch. Lowers the odds of a forgetful mistake.
