Just wondering what you guys suggest to get a surefire mb556k muzzlebrake that is rocksetted off a barrel and then reinstall. I have a new rail setup on my ar that has a proprietary barrel nut. Thanks fellas.

If you soak it in hot water it will break up even quicker. I will let the tub run till the water is as hot as it will get fill a bucket put my gun in a vise with the barrel sitting in the water and I will let it soak for 3 or 4 hours. It should unscrew after that but if not fill it again and let soak for another 3 or so.

I've got one that I let sit for a day and a half and soak, but she doesn't even want to think of coming off of there. I didn't use hot water... is that the key?

You could try gently heating the brake (over a gas burner or similar, maybe very hot water might work). If some strong threadlocker has been used, that might soften the bond enough for you to turn it.
Just curious, but if Heat helps do the trick then why would the heat from the suppressor and hot gasses not heat it up or loosen it during normal shooting? I'm only curious so don't flame me for this.

I added a little vitamin P (propane) via my torch and little persuasion and it came right off. Once I took it all the way off the threads everything was black so no real definate answer as to what it was. I'm just happy I can put my own adapter on now.

Rocksett when you take a brake off lookes like a white crystal type substance. If you soaked it and it didn't loosen it up it wasn't rocksett it was most likely a loctite. Loctite breaks down under heat rocksett breaks down from water.
