Rookie mistake - primer identification

I dumped a sleeve of primers in my flip tray and now don't know which ones they were. Is there a way to ID them? I've loaded small pistol and small rifle recently.

Well... if you load a couple in your rifle rounds, and they immediately pierce/blank, they're probably pistol. DAMHIKT.

Weigh them and compare to known primer types you have?

I’ve made that mistake, but there was only one empty sleeve in the trash. Compare the primers to the ones in your full sleeves. If you can’t tell, pitch them. The cost isn’t worth it.

This is the smarter option by far

Often times the color inside the cup is different.
