Your dog died happy and you should be both sad and a bit pleased. Your dog was wagging her tail and enjoying a lovely day and then went to the great beyond. Your dog lived a very long and very happy life, 15 years is a great long life for a lab. She had an owner who loved her and took great care of her. So yes your dog is gone and that sucks but you had 15 awesome years or like a 100 dog years of happiness. So be sad for the loss and reflect on the greater good of those 15 years. Your dog lasted twice as long as my first two marriages combined, hahahahaha. I has always dreamed those two bitches would fall over dead and it never happened.
My Dad died in 2007, a couple of months after I got home from Iraq. I flew down to visit him and flew back to my unit for a requalification deployment, three days later a drunk hit him while he was crossing the street. We had just talked about plans to fly him out for his 85th birthday which was a day after my daughter's birthday. That one stung and it took 18 months for the conviction but we got the joy of knowing that drunk driver died in prison.
Somewhere in heaven your dad is throwing a ball and your dog is fetching it. They will always be with you, I like to think they hear you when you think of them and are smiling down on you from their new home.

I am so sorry for both losses. Wish I had better words but I don't. Stay strong and fall back on those you love and let them do the heavy lifting for a while.
Thanks for the kind words and wish I could . My brother and I are going thru all of this and money for final expenses is short to say the least . My FIL offered to lend me some and I am looking at appraisals on some antiques tomorrow . If that fall s thru/short I'll go thru the gun safe .My brother doesn't have a dime and sister is on fixed income .
Gonna work this , get it right and mourn later .
I am grateful and moved by all the kind words and support .Pop was Navy so I'm gonna see to fair winds and following seas for him . He went into the Furmosa Straights to rescue Chinese leadership from Commie China , raised 1 girl and 3 boys ,and was the baddest 5 foot nothin MF I've ever met . So yeah I'm gonna work this .

Having gone through losing my dad unexpectedly a little less than a year ago, I feel your pain. Just know that it will get better with time. The funeral expenses and whatnot will work out. Don't forget to give yourself a minute here and there to decompress. It seems like an overwhelming thing to do but you'll get it done, and done right. God Bless...
