ROUND2((((( 100 YARD !!! ))))) BULLSEYE BONUS!!! All 30rounds are no further than .75" from dead center of bullseye to dead center of bullet hole!!! This will produce a 1.5" circle around dead center bullseye. If you think you made it this far, then please provide additional caliper pic of your single most furthest bullet hole from dead center bullseye (out of the 30 bullet holes, pick the bullet hole that is furthest from bullseye, and provide picture from dead center bulls to dead center bullet hole... easy as that!) This might sound easy if it was just a single 5shot group or with a bolt action, but times that by 6 total groups with a semi-auto! Rather hard, but obtainable! You can try going for this option if you want, but be forewarned,,,, you will most likely destroy your bug hole point of aim. Nice option to have tho! ROUND2((((( 100 YARD !!! ))))) THE SHOOTOUT OVERVIEW!
I thought this would be really fun for us Semi-Auto platform shooters to really show off your bad A$$ rifles and sniper's hide shooting skills in the Semi-Auto community. Enough of the "shoots .375moa all day long @ 100yards" talk, and to actually walk the walk!!!... Lets give those bolt action guys a run for their money! If you think this will be easy, then think again. You will never know until you try it! Will purchase a shot for the first .375 average all day long crown! LOL

Please, only picture / groupings post only!!

HERE ARE THE GUIDELINES TO POST:

1.) At 100yards (please be honest about this 100yards), all 6 groupings, 5shots each, 30 total bullets (no more, no less)... Must be on one large target about 2'x3' (or smaller target if you can fit your bad ass groups on 8x11 paper).... What ever size you think you can get 6 groups @ 5shots each on.... Can NOT be on individual targets. MUST BE on one target with 6 total groupings, 5shots each, 30 total bullets. That's it!! Would prefer 6 total @ 3/4" to 1" round sticker type targets on ONE large poster size target (or just use a black magic marker to make the 6 target markings). All consecutively shot. Shoot as fast or slow as you want, but must be shot within that day!!... If your one piece of paper / cardboard doesn't have 30 bullet holes, it doesn't count..... Bullet holes must be easy to see in your picture!! This is NOT about bullseyes!! All about grouping size average and your best group size!! All in good fun people... .25" or 5",, show off your skills baby! Just try your best! Everyone is welcome here regardless of skill! Piston or DI, AR or M1A, it's all semi-auto cool baby!

2.) Can be any caliber Semi Auto type platform. 308, 223, 260, 30-06, what ever. SEMI AUTO ONLY!! No bolt actions!!!

3.) Can use any type factory or reloaded ammo. What ever works best for your rifle.

4.) cough, honestly measure with calipers the distance of your two furthest bullet holes of each 5shot groupings (((center to center of each bullet hole))) and write this measurement IN LARGE FONT BLACK MAGIC MARKER right next to each grouping (6 total measurements). Either measure middle to middle OR outside to outside and deduct bullet diameter (end of topic). I really don't give a shit. This is all in good fun. Just be honest or I will call you out on this.

5.) Post close up picture of your best SINGLE group WITH CALIPERS showing the measurement!! MUST BE WITH CALIPERS!! NO RULERS ALLOWED!! If you don't have calipers, then go buy some. They are only $20 bucks!! Sheesshh, stop being such as cheap A$$ !! JK... Please be honest with your measurements!!! No coins or objects for scale!!! Just hard core measurements.

6.) Post picture of entire target showing all 6 groupings / measurements with calipers still on your best grouping!! NO picture, then it didn't happen!!

7.) In your posting, add up all 6 measurements and divide by 6 for your average MOA shot. Example, 1.12" + 1.01" + .56" + .75" + 2.25" + 3.46" = 9.15 divided by 6groupings = 1.525" average.

8.) Please, be honest! No shooting with your bolt action and playing it off as your semi-auto!! NO SHUTTING OFF OF GAS BLOCKS as this would turn off the semi-auto nature of your rifle. Can adjust gas block if needed, just can not shut it off all together!!!... In short, your bolt must make a complete cycle after the shot taken... You can not manually cycle the rifle on each round!!!

9.) If you do reload, feel free to post your load specs!

10.) Post what type of semi-auto rifle, ammo used, and how you took your shots (prone, bench, bipod, sandbags used, blah blah blah)........... No lock down gun vises!! Sandbags are ok, bipods are ok, monopods are ok.... If you are using a vise, then you are not really shooting the damn rifle and a monkey can shoot the rifle for you.

11.) Please post a picture of your rifle with your entry!!!!

12.) there is NO SUCH THING AS "FLYERS" in this shootout.. any possible "flyers" you might have count as your group!! damn those flyers!!!

13.) Please put the type of rifle, your sniper's hide name, and date you consecutively shot at the top of your target!

14.) As long as you follow the rules, have 6 groups @ 5shots each / 30 total bullets only, then feel free to post your results regardless of your average / single group size even if you don't make the leader boards!! You can not have multiple rankings / measurements on the leader boards,,,, only your best entry will make the boards with your one rifle.... You can however, have multiple leader-board entries by using two completely different semi auto rifles. In short, you can make as many attempts as you want with your rifle in order to improve your standing on the boards / get the best possible outcome with your rifle... no limits on entries..... the only way to be on the boards more than once at the same time is to use two different rifles.... Rock out as many semi auto rifles / entries as you want. Time to bust out that semi-auto collection!! All info is good info. Each rifle is different, has different optics, has different purpose, and different operators!!!! Be respectful of everyone's postings! Sub MOA or not, show off your rifle and skills! This is all in good fun!

15.) In the event of a tie value between multiple people, the first person to post wins.

16.) Only M.E.O.C.W. gauntlet test targets are allowed to have more than 30bullet holes in order to save time, bullets, and targets for perfecting your powder drop loads while also producing multiple entries on one pc of target paper for these shootout threads. Click on this link for more M.E.O.C.W. gauntlet test details: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting...t-semi-auto-precision-shooters-reloaders.html

17.) IF and only IF, with a semi-auto, you get ALL 6 total groups, 5shots each, consecutively shot in one day of shooting, AT or UNDER .375moa ON EACH GROUP @ 100yards, THEN you will get the esteemed title of, "This person, (your name), with this semi-auto rifle, (type/brand of rifle), shoots .375moa ALL DAY LONG" on the original post!!!! You will be required to have caliper measurements with pics ON EACH GROUP if you think you made it this far!! No cheaters or you will be called out if anything looks fishy... Until then, you are mostly just full of BS! Which also goes for myself! I do NOT have a .375moa all day long rifle! My rifle and myself are more like a .8 to .9 all day long kind of team!! JK LOL

I won't be able to take the crown, but I did finally shoot this, too late for the last thread. I'll have to measure, mark it up, and post later this week. Thanks for starting this up again elfster.

I figured it would be nice to start with a clean slate and to bump up the crown to .375 so I would think this should last for some time. More for fun and information than anything.

I didnt have an AR last time this came around but I hope to try my MWS and CQB out for fun.

I hope someone with an FD will post a target. I have yet to see any groups from this magical unicorn save the one 3 shot group they put out a while ago.

Plan on shooting Sunday, unsure if I will try this or test out the new steel at my clubs 300 before someone shoots the chains and ruins the targets.

Shot about 5 minutes ago. MWS, 16" chrome barrel, Schmidt 5-25 (Gen2 XR.) Atlas bipod, tab rear bag.

Groups 1-5 were Federal brass, 175 SMK, 2.810 COAL, 40.0g H4895, Fed 210m primers. Group 6 was the same load but a CCI BR2 primer. Ran out of federals.

PS- calipers were zeroed on a .308 bullet, so the outside measurement is the true center to center measurement.

BM11, shouldn't that group be measured center to center of the furthest hits, not outer edge to outer edge?

Yes if you read my post, I zeroed the calipers for a 308 bullet. It is much more accurate to do that or measure outside edge to outside edge minus the bullet diameter than it is to approximate the center of the bullet holes.

Didn't read the post -- just saw the picture and started scratching my head. Sorry for the confusion.

Great shooting brother!!!
Your the one to beat so far. I hope to get in on this one this time around. I just started handloading so I still have to develop a load first.
I don't think factory match ammo will be good enough.....lol

don't think so... just for semi-autos. might start one up on semi-auto 300yards, but not sure yet... only have the motivation to do one shootout thread right now...I think i'm going to the range tomorrow.... might give this a try.

I'm gonna have to try this with my newest franken-build 15!!! Elf, you planning to re-open this for the bolt actions?

Elf,

Whats your expectation of the cold bore shots? Are they supposed to be included in your 30 shots for record?

Will the powers that be get all out of joint if the target includes 2 shotholes out of the way in a corner to get the shooter/barrel ready to go?

This post is becoming epic. Ill expect it to be international soon with on scene referees.

First in. Nothing impressive, but glad my MWS is hanging around moa at this point.

Shot about 5 minutes ago. MWS, 16" chrome barrel, Schmidt 5-25 (Gen2 XR.) Atlas bipod, tab rear bag.

Groups 1-3 the first round opened up otherwise good groups. I found the lever on my Atlas half off, odd being that it has a lock button and I hadn't taken it off for anything.

Groups 1-5 were Federal brass, 175 SMK, 2.810 COAL, 40.0g H4895, Fed 210m primers. Group 6 was the same load but a CCI BR2 primer. Ran out of federals. Turns out the load doesn't work so hot with CCI primers!

This was my last chance to shoot for a week and a half, so I posted up what I got. Overall, pleased as the rifle was shooting 1.5" not long ago. Hoping once I get my stainless barrel back from LMT to do more serious load development and tighten up the average a bit. And actually shoot the rifle further than 100y too. Hahah

Quoting myself in a reply to retain my comments in a section separate from my "official entry" post, per Elfs request.

I usually shoot a couple foulers before I start my 30rounds down the tube.... obviously, just don't shoot at your target with the 2 foulers.... you can only have 30 shots on your target... no more, no less than 30rounds.

you are awesome

Ha I wish. Shooting 100yds is suck a mindf*** for me. I can see the bullet holes too easy and get excited or frustrated thn screw up the rest of the group.. I might do it one day. I'm just hoping for sub moa shooting ability at 100.

I think I'll get a massive poster dial the scope 15 mils down so I can't even see the groups. It would probably help me a lot.

I don't do the gun justice at all.

lets just say I was busy today playing around with different loads... it was sooo nice today! blew off well over 200 rounds in .308 and 5.56. I think I got screwed over with fliers with each rifle but that is all part of the game. Oh well. All fun and games. One thing is for sure, load development plays a big part and I need more of it! LOL. I know I can do better than this... maybe another weekend... if we only had more time and ammo!

I was hoping to get more out of my LMT MWS with the new once fired lake city 7.62 brass with 168 amax bullets (first time using LC in my LMT),,, 168amax has always worked really well for me in my LMT..... but then again I was thinking to myself I might need to fire it at least once to it is fire-formed to my LMT's chamber???... what do you guys think? how much would this really effect my accuracy? (see my LMT entry that I made today with 168amax to see what I'm talking about).

yeah, i'm going to load up 30 total old faithfuls.... either 168 hornady match bthp or in amax with 40.5varget. I was screwing around too much with different loads when I should've been sticking with one type that I know works well at 100yards.

what is strange is my rock river eop vmax pet load that I use for 300yards (and works well at 300yards) kinda works like crap at 100yards.. I still don't get this. It goes against all logic in my mind.

I know we can shoot better,bro..Loading some 140 Barnes MB's,they usually shoot good.

Shouldn't need to be fire formed. New brass has always been accurate for me, and a semi needs some tolerance anyhow, so it's not like you are running neck sized only brass, right?
