Went out yesterday to shoot a bit. The rifle is a tikka CTR action in a Bell and Carlson M40 style stock. Mountain precision 20moa rail, warne Maxima 30mm rings, Primary Arms GLx 6-24 athena BPR. Recently rebarreled from a 24" factory 6.5CM to 20" 6.5CM fluted IBI wuth a straight contour to .82" threaded 5/8×24. OSS HX762 hangin on the end. Torqued barrel to 50ftlbs per instructions IBI customer service, specifically the said not more than 55ftlbs.
This is rounds 51-80 on the new barrel. Ammo is pre primed federal brass with 42 grains of H4350 and a 140 eldm at 2.16 CTO, 2.78ish COAL
The reload is more for firing the brass than a tuned load, but that load shot spectacular in the 24" barrel and this is just leftovers so I sent it.
The target is at 467yds lasered with a sig 3000bdx. Holding left edge and 2.5 mils elevation in reticle. First magazine was 10 for 10, easy day already kinda new what to expect. Drop mag cool for a bit while buddy shoots, slap in 10 more rounds, hit, hit, then a miss, round is like 3 mil below target? Hit, miss 3 mil low, miss 3 mil low, wtf? Empty mag with hits. I wish I had remembered the magneto speed for numbers.
I figure its either a couple fudged reloads or a severe case of barrel settling in. I usually reload in 50 round batches, and the 2 batches of this same stuff before on the old barrel had 0 issues, and has seemed to shoot pretty well on the new barrel up until that mag, which would've been rounds 61-70, specifically 64, and I think 66 &67, or 67&68.
Anyone experience that or have a good idea where to start?
