I apologize if this is already been beat up, this weekend while visiting my dad and allowing/showing him longer range shooting is doable at his age, I shot his RPR 22mag. Disclaimer I’ve never been much of a Ruger fan past the 10-22.
It felt light and kinda cheap, the action was not my Tikka, but that damn thing shot!! At 50 yards it truly and honestly was a one hole (clover at worst) five shot group. For the money I was more than impressed and will be purchasing one for my 6 year old. I might also shoot it a lil.......

Ya, the subject has been beat to death, but that's OK. I'm happy you were impressed with the rifle. And I think it would be an excellent rifle for your child as it can be modified as they grow up.
I purchased one of the first one that Ruger made, and I've been very happy with it, even though I've had to work with it and modify it in several ways to get it to shoot as well as it does. But for me, that was part of the fun.
I think that part of the problem was in it's name; the Ruger "Precision" Rimfire. With a name like that, one would expect it to shoot sub MOA all the time. But for a sub $400 rifle with all of its adjustability and occasional outstanding accuracy, I think it's a pretty decent rifle. Since I purchased the RPR, I've purchased an CZ455 and a Tika T1 and they all shoot pretty well with the same accuracy. But my favorite is the RPR.

I didn't know they made it in 22 mag, and I'm kinda impressed that it shoots well. my 22 wmr is not very exciting in that regard. does ruger have any special secret sauce for the 22 wmr?

Secret sauce? No.
It's finding well made ammunition that causes problems.
The 22wmr isn't intended for precision shooting.
As a result production tolerances of the cartridges are fairly loose.
The rifles are capable of decent results, but the cartridges are problematic.
No rifle can make a poorly made cartridge better.

I had a wild idea a number of years ago to build a pretty tricked out bolt action 22WMR and based on what was available at the time, I chose the 77-22 as the donor. I was about to order a flat top McMillan stock to custom inlet, barrel, trigger, you name it, the plan was pretty broad.

Then, I shot the factory stock rifle and the plans went down the tube. The thing shot like a laser....with the grossly heavy trigger and plastic stock. I lost count of the number of gophers I massacred with that thing, along with coyotes beyond 200 yards. To this day, I still have that bone stock rifle and it still shoots awesome. Not the best feeling action, the trigger and stock is horrible, but I learned a lot from shooting that rifle the the way it was.

I'd like to see some 22wmr contributions to the 6x5 rimfire thread.

it'd be nice to see those rifles producing some bragging worthy results at 50 and 100 yards.
I tried, but was unable to equal the better results produced by the 17hmr and 22lr postings.

Long story...

My pop got a Marlin model 25 (that's a 22lr). Probably older than myself. It shoots so damn good that I thought it would be a good idea to get a new 25M (mag). This is pre-remlin mind you. I had to scub that barrel with steel wool like the MFr owed me money.

It now shoots 45grn at 50 yards into just over a quarter.

During this time, I was really studying the CZ452's (5 of them) and considered one in MAG. Could not do it based on my very little experience and all the "word" about inaccurate 22WMR.

If you read this far, is an accurate 22WMR available? I'm all ears

I have a 783 that will shot 10 into a nickel at 50 yards if I do my part, I added a rifle basix trigger and had it D&T for a scope. It likes hornady 30gr max and cci 40gr solids the best
