Sooo...I have a Ruger Precision Rimfire. I’m not the greatest shot in the world, nor the most consistent, but I have come to the conclusion that this rifle is just too light for precision work. Maybe it’s me. I really, really like the RPRR, butjust can’t stop feeling like it’s’ twtchy’.
I realized that benchrest and PRS rifles are all fairly heavy and decided to experiment. MDT makes chassis weights and there are similars options but what I’ve done for now is grabbed my wife’s wrist weights and wrapped them around the stock and handguard. Rifle is at 15 lbs now and feels solid and more stable that it ever has. Range time later today.

Thoughts?

15 lbs is pretty hefty. I don't know what a Ruger RPRim weighs, but I do agree that the heavier the better. Usually the heavier it is in PRS matches absorbs a lot of the recoil, on a 22, that's not as necessary. My Tikka T1X in a KRG Bravo with Scope (2.5lb scope/rings) weighs in at 10lbs. I'm going to be buying a heavier barrel, which will probably put it at around 12lbs and have a perfect balance in front of the mag well.

But during matches so far I haven't had any issues with my 10lb setup being too light.

For your RPRR, you could get some mlok weights and maybe some steel LoP spacers to weigh it down once you figure out how much weight you like.

And twitchy, could also mean if your trigger is 4lbs, that's a lot of pull on a light rifle as well. My triggers across all my rifles are now 1.5lbs which works out great for me.
