Hey guys what is the purpose of this hole? Looks like an attachment for sling but can't find info anywhere.

Relatesd question. I've seen people mount an extension that's like a semi flexible phone mounts Innto these accessory holes.

There's a gazillion options. Amazon has them for less than $20.
Flexible goose-neck devices, standard 1/4"-20 tpi threads.
From 10 years ago with early carbon fiber tripods.
