So got my hands on one of these. Pretty decent piece of kit if you are trying to run a clip on in front of a spotter. Only thing I would have liked to see was a section of pic or arca that you could mount an illuminator/pointer in line with the optics.

I'm going to see if I can mount a 4 slot mlok pic rail under the 27 and get my luna under there.

Just get another one of the mini clamp packages, put it on the underside of your 27, make sure you have a plate on your illuminated and you’ll be set.

I was able to buy one of the LMSS spotters earlier this year for $400 when they were liquidating them. I would really like to get some of the rails I have seen for them but the only thing I can find is this system from BO, and its $600. Is there anywhere to buy individual rails or a cheaper...

You might be able to squeeze in an offset mount like the ones used for red dots on gas guns behind the 27 and mount a pointer that way.

Reticle options, aftermarket support, and FOV is why I take Mk4. Especially if a guy doesn't want to fork the money for a Hensoldt.

Swaro still makes the STR80. Great reticle, but the FOV is garbage. If you're using it for comps, you'd see why. But if you're not moving a lot while spotting, then you'll be fine.

Hensoldt is 2nd to none, though. Just don't get the Spotter60. That reticle sucks ass LOL.

I just ordered one of these spotter kits yesterday. Hopefully it shows tomorrow (paid for 2 day shipping). I also picked up a Grey Man Ops arca dual mounting plate and already had a Ashbury Tims along with other RRS parts to put it together. Why you might ask?!

Right, so how do you see the IR laser when you find someone hiding in a bush at 1100m and you have to relay where it is to the guy on the gun?

Panos are for guys who dont practice proper head position for passive RDS aiming at night.

And I can see the IR laser through it.

The PAS23 at least got it somewhat right in that its a thermal with a reticle but also a built in IR laser. While the thermal can't see the IR, you at least know whatever is on the reticle is what the laser is hitting.

So when you are observing with that gigantic thermal thingy and you see some guy hanging out in a bush at 980m and let your shooter know you have a new target; how are you getting him onto it without that 30 in front? You basically can't other than using the same method as you would during the day and having it diminished at night. You're losing 50% of your night time advantage as far as combat shooting is concerned right off the bat.

Secondly, needing a 30 on front and for it to mainly all be tripod mounted is a huge disadvantage. Nighttime operations generally require displacements from FFPs to secondary sites as well as movement off a FFP for other reasons. Having to break down and stow all of that shit to get going and then set up again is going to be cool for about 15 minutes. This is where a handheld bino with NV and range finding capabilities really shines.

Moskito has both internal GPS as well as links to the Trimble with FFS. Using it or the PLRF15c with the Trimble in GPS mode, you can laser any target and it will tell you the GPS/MGRS information of whatever you just hit with the laser.

Perfect for those times you want to just chill out and let someone drop a bomb on it.

We basically always wore duals of some sort and prior to the 31, a single PVS over the non dominant eye for indoor missions.

Seems a hooking a radius to a thermal would solve a lot of your problems cheaply lol. Radius has the laser and range for ya
