I recently purchased one of these overall the rifle is accurate I only have about 100 rounds through it and it is averaging .6 Moa with factory 55 grain vmax.
I bought this gun to shoot coyotes and rock chucks and for a cheap build to beat up in the truck. my complaints are that the bolt is kind of a pain in the ass to run so I might change out the bolt handle. the stock is cheap I had to put it in the milling machine and open up the front to float the barrel all the way. and I know this Is not a rifle thats going to shoot 1000 plus in its current configuration but a faster twist rate would be nice for heavier bullets. and also the rail has 0 elevation on it. I mounted a arken 4-14-44 and it only has one rev left on the scope. and it starts to shadow past 2 mills. just thought I would throw this out their if people were looking at these rifles.

I want one. For some reason. Almost irrational. I’ve got a dozen rifles that don’t get shot nearly enough. But every time I see one, I want to dump it into a magpul hunter, load 53 grain vmaxes and 55 grain Barnes real fast, and hurt things with it.

I’ve fooled with just enough Americans to know they shoot above their price point, and I want one of those. Crappy 9 twist and all.......

If you can find one, Whittaker Guns had a limited run of 1:8 twist 22-250’s with a stainless steel threaded barrel

If you haven’t changed the handle yet, Anarchy Outdoors sells great replacements. I run their handle and Long Dragon Scale knobs on both of my Americans.

you can also get 20, 30 or 40 MOA scope bases for the American to get some of your elevation back in the turrets

I put the krg handle on and put it in the magpul stock shoots great the only issue was tha mag I have to run the mdt mag to keep it feeding well and even then I get malfunctions sometimes but overall I’m into the rifle around 1000 bucks optic sling bipod not to bad I don’t think oh and i did swap to a 20 minute base. Love the rifle so far. Plan is when the factory barrel is done to go to a faster twist and ackley it.

Krg bolt lift 30 bucks and you don’t have to swap the bolt knob

Have you tried metal mags?

I thought about 22-250ai but i think I’m gonna go 22 creedmoor instead. 18” in length...haven’t decided if I want to go 0.750” or 0.825” at the muzzle. I’d really love to do carbon fiber, but then the Barrel by itself will be $1k lol. I’m gonna put mine in the McMillan game warden stock

I talked to mdt and they told me that people were having better luck with their polymer over steel so I went with that and have pretty good success with them the magpul mags could feed 3 with no issues and the mdt polymer will feed 10 most of the time with no malfunction
