Wow, Ruger is destroying Remington. If they're smart they'll expand that line to smaller calibers and cover all the precision rifle bases for guys that like the traditional stocks and guys that like the TUBB2000-like design of the RPR.

Now if Ruger only would come up with an innovative pump shotgun and an innovative semi auto shotgun, Remington would be in deep shit.

I have owned a pair of Ruger KM77 VT MKII's, a .308, and a .22-250. I loved them, and basically considered them the Cadillac of heavy barreled factory rifles. They were sold for funds during a medical crunch.

This new offering appears even better suited, and I too hope it will eventually be offered in less brisk chamberings than the .300WM.

A .280 Rem would be super nice in such a package. The .280's I used to shoot were a pair of 77 MKI's, a sporter and a varmint version. They were mine on loan, and I really miss them.

i have two ruger m77's, a 223 and a 270. both are favorites of mine. i REALLY like this gun, but the short for caliber barrel is what turns me off.

one of these in a 280....i would HAVE to have it.

i also wish they would have used the m77 action instead of the american action on the precision. although mine shoots incredibly well as is. the way this gun is constructed is way more practical. i can't do a win mag, i already have a wsm and i'll be damned if i have both. i am trying to downsize my caliber collection, not increase it. i really do like the way this is put together, barring the 24 inch pipe.

I think it looks outstanding! Remington better get off the pot. They could Easily make a modern factory LR setup with value. I’m not a fanboy of any gun company. I would have any make of any accurate rifle. I love them all....

I'm betting the accuracy on these is really good. I purchased a ruger hawkeye 6.5cm a few months ago. It is a light weight barrel but the thing is a tack driver. Was very surprised how accurate it shot for a factory hunting rifle. I'm a very big fan of the M77 action as i have several, and Ruger is the only company that offers a left hand stainless gun!

My only complain was they bead blasted the entire gun, bolt, and action. This made the action very rough and gritty feeling. I spent a couple hours polishing it up and now it is very smooth. however, that is disappointing on a $900 gun. Other than that i love the gun. I also like that it comes with a picatinny rail instead of their integral scope mounting system.

The triggers on these are great and very easy to adjust. (simply cut down the spring to your desired pull weight) as it had no creep, and was nice, crisp and clean.

The best part is the barrels are easy to replace, as any replacement barrel for the ruger american will fit this action as a pre-fit/barrel nut system!

The Ruger rep in this video mentions it is actually a 26" barrel rather than a 24, which would much better for the 300. I wonder what it actually will be once it is shipping.

Laminated wood is not the same as solid walnut. The laminate used to make the blanks is sheets of hardwood impregnated with epoxy resin under pressure then vacuum (or the other way round, can't recall) then cured in an autoclave. The sheets are laid on each other with grain running in different directions and the resin cures to bond and harden everything into an extremely hard, stiff, and impermeable plywood that makes very, very stable stocks.

Having had both, I prefer laminated wood stocks to fiberglass.

Yes, no different than walnut or fiberglass stocks. The point of bedding is to have a perfect mate between the bottom of the action and the stock inletting, and the stock's material has nothing to do with that.

Anything built on an M77 action is highly suspect.
Square and true are not attributes of the Ruger lost wax investment casting process, and they do nothing to correct it, unless Jr has changed their ways. Ol' Bill didn't give two shits about quality.
They look nice, but you have a 50/50 chance of getting one that shoots worth a fuck.
Oddly enough, the have done a very good job with the RPR.

The root cause is left handed shooters buying right handed guns. 10% of the population is left handed, and of those left handed folks who shoot, I'd bet that more than half of them just shoot right handed rifles.

If 10% of the gun population was left handed, and would only buy left handed guns, I would think that there would be some profit margin for manufacturers to produce left handed rifles. Especially if you are one of the only companies that produced left handed rifles.

Trigger was decent, kinda felt like a two stage (light pre travel then a definite wall), had some creep but was fairly light. Bolt opened easily but closed pretty rough. But man the rifle looks awesome. The barrel profile on it is also giant which seems good.

When I draw a horizontal line from that guy's eye it seems to go right to the center of the occular lens, and the rifle's comb is as low as it will go.

Looks to me like it's set up correctly for him, regardless of how it "should" look.

It is a two stage trigger. For a hair over $1000, I'd be tempted.

That would explain why it felt that way then haha. Magwell was a hair tight as well, mag wasn't super easy to insert.

My RPR is lights out. Lots of them are. Or did you just mean the 77? I don’t know much about those.
