Ruger m77 mark2 great groups but P.O.I changes

I picked up a Ruger in 300 win mag,its really accurate. I wish I could post pictures but I'm posting with a BlackBerry. I'm new to bolt action, but I have a military background plus took a 2 week sniper course in Germany. I have also been hunting since I could hold a gun and bow. I checked scope mounts they are tight. The bullets I'm trying are Black hills match moly coated. The scope is a Leupold vx2 6-18. There's no trigger work yet so its a hard pull and I'm trying to use the same body position. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Im confused, if your poi is changing how are you getting good groups. Are you saying its not consistent from one day to the next?

Have the trigger worked and have it properly bedded and have a better recoil pad installed.

The Ruger stocks don't have as much cast as alot of others due and this lends to a little more felt recoil and that equals flinching.
The stupid angled front screw on Rugers is a pain in the ass to bed and if not peoperly bedded will aloow the action to move some in the stock
A good trigger egneral help any rifle shoot better , ro helps you shoot that rifle better should i say.

Another big factor in guys getting POI changes is not having the same cheek wled and head position each time or not having the scope properly adjusted to fit you on the gun

I was just practicing getting some groups in and shot a 3 shot group walked to the target. I let the barrel cool for 10 min than shot again the bullet hit same elevation just 3" to the right. I'm trying to keep the same body position and I move my head in till the scope sight picture opens up. Like I said I can't post a picture of the target with a blackberry. I don't see how it could change I left the gun on the bench and just took the bolt with me. Thanks again for any input.

Try shooting five or a ten shot groups and see what those look like. Three shot groups realy don't tell the whole story as to the guns accuracy. Does your scope have parallax adjustment so you can minimize error due to changes in eye position behind the scope?

I was shooting 5 shot groups testing ammo. I was letting the barrel cool in between shots. After round impacted over a couple inches I kept shooting 5 more shots letting it cool a couple minutes and shot the best group out of the gun so far.

Do you have the parallax adjusted out of the scope?

I adjusted the parrallax until my crosshairs became clear. I don't know much technicalities of the workings of a scope just the basics.

parralax is a visual displacment which occurs within optical sights. Depending on the scope there will be a parallax adjustment which will prevent this displacement by adjusting your scope to the proper range. This is very important because if your eye is not lined up to the scope at exactly the same place as it was previously and it is not adjusted for parallax, visually displacment can occur, making your crosshairs actually appear to be pointing at a different place then your scope truly is.
