So I'm new to the forum and just getting into PRS/Steel target shooting and have a Ruger RPR that I'm using as the base for my first build in 308. Right now I plan to shoot up to 1000 yards mostly during the day and possibly low light. I'm in the process of looking for the right scope and want to spend my money wisely and could use some guidance.
I'm budgeting for a Spurh mount and a scope in the $500 - $800 range. I'd like a FFP in MIL with a simple and clean MIL hash/dot/diamond reticle and am open to fixed or variable power. Any suggestions for a good all around option in this price range? Is fixed going to be harder to shoot with the further out I get? My view is I can always dial a variable down.
I've looked at the Athlon Midas Tac and several SWFA scooes and like the tracking and zero stop of the Athlon reviews I've seen online and the forum. Like I said before though I'm new to this so you all know way more about optics than I do so feel free to drop some knowledge on me, thanks!
