So I have tried to wade through diffeeent threads on different sites. I am wondering what I need to do to get the mags to not feed like crap. I read something about foil tape bedding to help accuracy.

If i was you. And this has been covered. Sell it while you can. They call it a ruger RPR but its really an endless black hole to send your money into. When you fix the feeding problm then you find the firing pin and spring problem. Fix that then the firing pin and spring drag problem is next. When you finally fix all that then you see that the barrel sucks. Sell it now.

I stopped using my 15 rounders for bolt work where accuracy is a question. On the ten rounders you can reduce the spring pressure by half. I got a tool from tandemkross for about $15 to make it easy. Feeds smooth and easier on the cartridges too.

FWIW- I like my rprr for what it is. There are a number of DIY things you can do to make it a little better than what it is out of the box. I know it'll never shoot like a $2500 rig. I only spent $400 on it and another $350 for glass. Leaves lots of room to spend time and money firing rounds, developing skills, and working on different positions to get hits.

i gave up on mine when i dropped a borescope down the barrel and saw how crooked the chamber was cut. its now my granddaughters rifle. i did all the tape, spring and mag tricks and its still just a plinker. i dunno, the qc issues disappointed me.

I don't have a dog in the fight. Never owned a Ruger, but apparently they know how to make revolvers that are built like tanks and last several generations. I would buy one of those. But for rifles, specially the RPR, I have not heard anything great. Just from my experience playing with my CZ which shot damn good out of the box, I spent hours and tons of $ to get it to the next level. By the end I sold to someone who loved it as it was. Any rifle can be made to shoot well, depends how much time and money you have. Good luck.

Go to the Ruger Precision Rimfire thread and click on page 30. Go down about 1/3 of the post and you'll see a link to "Elfsters" video on how he bedded the chassis with foil tape. If you do this, it may help with your feeding issues as the taping will tighten up the rear mag locking lug, in addition to improving accuracy. If you try this and still have feeding issues, try Butler Creek's "Hot Lip" mags, which IMHO are far better than Ruger's BMX mags.
