So I have tried to reach out to Russo rifle stocks and have yet to get a response. Right now I currently have a KRG Whiskey 3 and would love to switch over to a wood style tactical stock. I would like to place a trade ad but I when the HIDE switched again I have lost all my post. I also reached out to admins and have not found a solution yet. I would be willing to trade the chassis for the right wood stock. If anyone knows another great wood stock maker any info would be greatly appreciated. This is the look I am going for! Thanks Tom

Funny, I just came from his website when I saw your post. I'm planning on using one of his stocks for my next build and was doing a little drooling. FWIW, Joel is known for his great customer service. Maybe he is just on vacation?

I'll send you a PM shortly with a phone number that might be useful.

I called him a few months back to try and get a couple pieces of maple for a martini 22lr I was re-stocking. Great guy on the phone. Easy to talk to. He requested I email him my request and he'd take a few pictures of some wood and send it to me. I didn't receive any response.

At the time he mentioned his time was being consumed by the curtis actions project. Perhaps he's still busy with that.

Take a look at Masterclass Stocks. Alex has been the go-to for top end Highpower stocks for at least 20 years. He built me a AA++ California Claro Prone stock for my Palma rifle that is stunning. Shoots awesome too.

FWIW, I have really started to love wood. Not sure I'd go that route for a 338LM, etc. but for average rounds it really softens the recoil. Takes some extra love to maintain but it's so nice....

Thanks for all the responses, I've have a lot of looking and dreaming to do. I really want to good back to wood, love the feel and the look! I do really like my Whiskey 3 but its just not for me. Its time to put Moon's beautiful creedmoor in a equally beautiful wood style tactical stock!

Russo is going to do a tactical wooden stock for me from a piece of black walnut from my farm. Only issue - the walnut tree was only cut down about 3 months ago, was milled into a blank about a month ago, and needs to dry to 6-8% moisture content before its ready for Joel. Joel said it takes 2-3yrs before its that dry. You are correct that his work is beautiful. Good things come to those who wait, right?!?

No helpful info
just wanted to say,,,,,,,,my god!
those are beautiful!

You don't have a local yard that can kiln it for you?

good observation. I do but Joel said "air drying is preferred to kiln" - stronger and prettier. Given that I'm manufacturing lumber for a house, I have a good moisture meter and I'm watching the walnut blanks with it. My sawyer said likely at 6-8% faster than 3 years, maybe a 1+.

Talked to Joel Monday and the project is in the works. Great guy to talk to and has been great about sending me info, pics and options. After looking at more of his stocks, I know I am working with one of the best in the industry.
