Rust on brand new bolt?

Hi all, just got my brand new rifle and when I pulled out the bolt it either had rust or brass residue on it. Has anyone had this problem I'm not sure how normal this is and whether I need to contact the seller.

As soon as I figure out how to post pics ill update the post.

Not unusual at all if it is a Remington, especially if it is a SPS model.

The rifle is a Sako TRG, didn't expect that on a 3000 dollar rifle.

Was it a local pickup or mail order?

where was the rust specifically...several areas to a bolt, assuming bolt face since you mention brass residue.

Got a picture?


Unless it's heavily pitted, I'd clean it and move on.

Can't you just scrub the rust off, give it a light coat of oil and shoot it?

yeah I would try to lightly scrub it off, i always put Eezox on my guns and that stuff really works.
