RWS brass?

Re: RWS brass?

I heard it was as good as Lapua brass but dont really know first hand. Im about to have a 300 win built and am just looking for some quality brass, U have a recommendation?

Re: RWS brass?

i've used it all....the .300wm indexes off the belt....the standard remingtom brass do real well and when properly prepped will run a long time.....the nickel plate stuff do well also....as in consistancy.

black hills also is nice

Re: RWS brass?

In my Swiss cheese memory I remember RWS as being very high priced European goods. I have never used any of their 300 WinMag components.

For the 300WinMag I have, the Remington and Hornady brass has done really well. Some of the Hornady brass has 5 load cycles on it. For the 300 WinMag these two brands of brass are all I have personal experience with.

Good luck.

Re: RWS brass?

Bob, thanks for the link. Wow, That seems like a good price for the RWS brass, it looks like a 1000 pcs is the smallest amount you can buy but that price makes it cheaper than the remington and winchester. Just called them and they do have it in stock.

Re: RWS brass?

RWS is supposed to be very good brass (at least the benchrester weenies think so). They stopped selling a lot of their product in the US a while ago, just before I was going to covert from Winchester to RWS for my F-Class 7WSM. If I could find RWS 7WSM in the US, I'd gladly pay Lapua prices for it over Winchester that I use now.

Re: RWS brass?

Clinto,
Yes all of the RWS is the toughest brass that can be had. Dave Tooley's Boo Boo Cartridges are based off of the RWS 8x68s. Dave claims over 50 firings on the 8x68s cases. Jay Cutright had a large amount of RWS .300 WM brass for sell at $1.00 per case. Email him at see if he has still got some. edgarjaycutright at yahoo dot com. Hell of a Good Guy and Gunsmith.

Re: RWS brass?

Umm? Nickel plated brass is not a good choice, friends. Not if you want to do any case prep. And, who doesn't? Might be okay for long term storage, maybe on board ship, salt air environment, and for handgun ammo, but that's as far as it goes. It chips and dulls your tools, good for firing once and discarding. Personal opinion.

As far as RWS, I heard somewhere they produced beefy brass cases, but also heard that brass is/can be difficult to resize with conventional dies because of the strong construction. BB

Re: RWS brass?

I was trying to run a group buy for RWS 7WSM brass; I contacted 2 of their major dealers in the US and they each said the same thing. RWS was done here with 7WSM brass.

I had a contact that did a face to face with them and they said no deal; they had no interest in shipping 7WSM brass to the US. WE offered to buy 20,000 cases, and they said no. So as far as I am aware, you can't get it here in the states.
