Update: Apparently some units are being shipped in for trials this month and the first units will be here in June. The first few shipments of scopes are already spoken for through the huge number of advance orders S&B have received. The retail price is set at $2599.

I've been looking forward to this. It's got to be one of the most versatile scopes on the market....er..... when it actually hits the market.

There are enough Leupolds in private hands to do side by side.

I would reconsider the Leupold if (1) they revised the street price to be around $2600, and (2) they offered the red dot/Horus reticle that was at SHOT in 2010 or another reticle with a red dot at low magnification. Without a red dot it's just not very useful at 1.1x.

I was told May 6 for the Mark 8 with the horus, they(Leupold) said it is not a dot but a horseshoe?? I am not expecting the price to go down until the mil contracts are completed or some competition comes out.

S&B have pulled wholesale pricing for now. Germany says that there is a price increase coming for both the 1-8 and 3-20. Too bad, they seemed to have value (as compared to the CRAZY Leupold pricing). I'm going to put two on order with the understanding that they won't be coming in until later this year, xmas? and it will be more than the previous amount.
The 1-8 looks to be just too cool not to check out.
