Hey everyone I am about to purchase my first Schmidt & Bender and I am having a hard time deciding what reticle to pick. Currently I am running a TRG22 with a Night Force. Looking to upgrade. I want to go to a Mil/Mil system. I have had some precision training in the past and I am getting more this year. I plan to shoot in some local tactical shoots. please let me know what your recommendations. Thanks

Re: S&B Reticle...Recommendations

You didn't say what power SB. It matters.

The P4F works fine for the 5-25x. But I prefer the Klein, at no extra cost. I use the Gen II XL at 12x because I have one and it's easy to parse the .2 Mil dots (it's a bit thick at 16x for paper, though). I have on order the MSR for the 5-25 because I know I will like it.

Re: S&B Reticle...Recommendations

The H2CMR looks great. I got a chance to look at one this past weekend. I really like the P4F, except there is no .5mil hash off of the crosshair center.

Re: S&B Reticle...Recommendations

Hey Veo, I just put a 4-16x on my TRG-22. If this is the the model you're going for you have P3, P4 and P4F to choose from. If you're coming from a NF mil reticle, my input is:

- Prefer thick lines & classic mildot --> P3
- Prefer thick lines & MLR style hashes --> P4
- Prefer thin reticle & MLR style hashes --> P4F

I went with P4F. It reminds me of my PR Gen2XR with a floating subtention like my PR Gen2Mildot, except without a +/- 0.5 hash.

Re: S&B Reticle...Recommendations

MSR OR H2CMR

i really like the MSR has .5min holds

great for ranging to me its an improved p4F

the h2cmr is no slouch either, the .2mil holds are nice and it is a super nice reticle

hard to beat either one, i would personally buy the h2cmr that is for sale now just bc its avaiable

Re: S&B Reticle...Recommendations

I love my H2CMR reticle. Second choice would be the P4F.

Pics of the H2CMR and P4F that I posted recently. I suck at through the scope pics so don't hold it against the FOV or clarity of the scope as both are better. The round steel is an 8" target at 400 yards. I didn't have a 25x P4F pic. Sorry

Re: S&B Reticle...Recommendations

I have the P4F in my 5-25 and I really like it.

You have to ask yourself how fine/obscure you want your reticle to be on low power, and how fat/thick you want it to be on high power. I personally can't stand a really fat reticle at high power, because I feel it makes pinpoint precision difficult. Meanwhile, I rarely use my scope at 5x, and when I do, it's close range where you could score a sufficient hit on most (real) targets simply by centering the target in your field of view, without even pasting the reticle on your target.

A lot of folks like the horus type reticles, but I find them confusing and busy, so they're not for me, but you may love it.

I really like the Gen 2 XR EXCEPT it should absolutely have the .2 mrad subtenstions at the outer edges of the reticle like the P4 does.

If I were buying a new one, I'd choose the MSR reticle, which I believe is simply a P4F with an two extra ranging rulers/devices. I don't find it busy, and seems like it would be really helpful for detailed ranging work....which I learned at my last match, I need a lot more practice at.

Re: S&B Reticle...Recommendations

I really liked the look of the MSR reticle. I came very close to ordering one, but in the end went for the H2CMR. The benefits seem to be there. I'm waiting on it to get here.

Re: S&B Reticle...Recommendations

I can tell off hand the the MSR reticle truley amazing, the thickness of the lines is just a little thicker than the p4f and a little thinner than the p4 regular. Absolutely amazing ranging abilities.
