Re: S&B Reticle...Recommendations
I have the P4F in my 5-25 and I really like it.
You have to ask yourself how fine/obscure you want your reticle to be on low power, and how fat/thick you want it to be on high power. I personally can't stand a really fat reticle at high power, because I feel it makes pinpoint precision difficult. Meanwhile, I rarely use my scope at 5x, and when I do, it's close range where you could score a sufficient hit on most (real) targets simply by centering the target in your field of view, without even pasting the reticle on your target.
A lot of folks like the horus type reticles, but I find them confusing and busy, so they're not for me, but you may love it.
I really like the Gen 2 XR EXCEPT it should absolutely have the .2 mrad subtenstions at the outer edges of the reticle like the P4 does.
If I were buying a new one, I'd choose the MSR reticle, which I believe is simply a P4F with an two extra ranging rulers/devices. I don't find it busy, and seems like it would be really helpful for detailed ranging work....which I learned at my last match, I need a lot more practice at.
