Hello all,

I am looking at purchasing a hunting rifle and can't decide between the new Sako S20 hunter or a Tikka T3X roughtech. I have held both and like both of them. I would want the Sako in 6.5PRC but as of now the Tikka is not available in that caliber. Not interested in purchasing the tikka and rebarreling into the 6.5PRC (at the moment). Let me know your thoughts!

**I guess the 6.5PRC is just a pro for the S20 but not a deal breaker for me with the T3X since ammo is a little crazy at the moment. I was possibly leaning towards .300 WM anyways for that reason.

Normally I'd advise the T3x over anything. My hunting rifles have been a revolving door over the last few years, and I don't even hunt that much. I always come back to my T3x. Weight, value, quality, accuracy, it's all there...especially when compared to the old Sako 85. However, the new S20 appears to be a souped up t3x and with a few extra options out of the box, adjustability, pic rail, threaded, QD sockets, and most important it's in the caliber you want...now.

I have a Bartlein .264 barrel I'm trying to sell. If you get the T3x you can buy that then buy the new bolts from LRI. Boom 6.5PRC Tikka T3x!

Thanks for the input. I know the caliber threw some people off and didn't really make sense in the first place. I'm leaning towards the S20 just for the cool factor. I do like that if I went Tikka route I could upgrade the stock, barrel, etc.. but at that point I would be spending the same money as the S20 and not need to do any upgrades.

S20 definitely has the cool factor.
The finish and design are superb.
The dollar value is justified, compared to the T3X.
My preference for "heavy" barrels still swings me to my Super Varmint.
I've never met anyone that regretted owning a Sako, or a Tikka.
My TRG is dated, but still the "ducks nuts".
If I could justify having a general purpose hunting rifle in .308, then a S20 would be the go.
Buy that classy boomstick!😍
