I like what I'm getting for accuracy, but it seems like the guts are a bit rough, including a mag release that requires enough pressure on it to squash a freakin' Terminator. What would you swap out and from whom would you source it?

I'd check out 10-8.com or maybe EGW? I've got lots of their parts and they're top shelf. Wilson ain't bad either.

You can get four magazine release springs for like $6 from Brownells.
If you don't know how to fit parts, don't go switching stuff out--a TRP is a fine weapon as it comes from the factory and it has a lifetime warranty. If it's jacked up, send it back.

I don't intend to do shit myself. I run them, field-strip them, clean them, and put them back together clean and lubed. Adventurous for me is getting the guts out of the slide without an eyefull of angry firing pin.
By the way, does anyone have experience with S&A ambi mag releases? George at EGW is almost around the corner from me, so yes, it'll go up there for anything more than minor.

Perhaps get some automotive sandpaper from autozone, and polish the rough portions. I highly doubt you'll remove enough metal using 2000 grit wet sandpaper to affect tolerances.
Nvm, just read you dont have the mechanical know-how to fiddle around with the innards. I'd recommend you send it back and tell SA your problems

It's more like knowing that the difference between a reasonable gunsmithing bill and what seems like an outrageous one is quite often an overconfident Dremel session.
And I prefer Flitz on what I am willing to "shade-tree."
