Shooters, I shipped this rifle last week but did not get around to putting pictures up. This was built off of a Badger M2008 and an AICS 1.5. Talk about a stout combination!!!

The bolt was Ion Bonded because of the very tight bolt clearance in the action, plus Ion bond is a superior finish to just about everything else out there.

The customer wanted to me machine a custom block to fill in the void from the AICS's bolt handle cutout. It looked pretty lame straight from inletting to make the action fit, so I made up this block and permanently fixed it to the stock.

Also, I was not in love with the inletting that was done, the threaded boss' in the front and rear were contacting the stock really bad as well as the front recoil lug, so I opened up the boss' slightly larger and inletted in front and below the reoil lugs a little more to allow only the recoil lugs to do the work, not the boss or have a conflicting side of the recoil lug do it.

Here are the specs.

Badger M2008 action, Gen 2

Ion Bonded bolt assembly

Bartlein MTU 1-11.25 30 cal barrel, chambered 308 SAC Match

Cut to 18.5 at muzzle, threaded 5/8 x 24

Custom thread protector

Badger Ordnance Inletted AICS

Short Action Customs bolt handle cutout block

Cerakote Graphite Black metal.

I test fired it quickly with some FGGM and it was putting one on top of the other.

Enjoy..

Mark

Re: SAC: 308 M2008 in AICS

Thanks Mark!

I was wondering if I was gonna see some pics of it. I have a feeling that cutout block for the bolt handle is gonna start to be more popular, it makes it look like its a factory job.

Can't wait till I get back to the states, I'll definitely post an after action report

Man, it looks to good with the can, gonna have to get one now...

Thanks guys, the rifle turned out really well and I'm sure its going to be a shooter!!

Re: SAC: 308 M2008 in AICS

Mark, very nice rifle. I'm not one to post stuff just to get my count up. I am having one built right now at GAP. Same AICS I was lucky enough to get a AMU Plus barrel from Boots Obermeyer. I'm going to use the GAP Templar action and have the skins painted like their Crusader. Everything else I'm leaving up to the experts. I hope mine turns out half as nice as yours and I will be happy.

Re: SAC: 308 M2008 in AICS

Alvin,

You are correct, it is a Thunder Beast Arms Corp. 30P-1. This is one bad suppressor. Its extremely light and extremely quiet. I did some shooting with it a few weekend ago at Thunder Valley Precision (great place to shoot and train) and I had multiple tell me it was the quietest suppressor they have heard.

All my rifles I put it on just drop bullets on top of bullets. POI shift was extremely minimal with only 1.5 MOA low (6 o'clock) with my 24" AR and around 1 MOA low on other rifles.

I would check them out. Snipers Hide did a great review on them as well.

The rifle weighs a bit, its stocky, but its extremely solid.

lw8,

The action is pretty nice. I don't know anybody with a custom action, so I can't really compare it to anything. I am a huge fan of the 60º bolt throw though. Makes working the bolt short and quick.
