Sad news. PAC-NOR factory fire in Oregon

Wow, that is really sad to hear. Glad nobody was hurt or worse. Both of my main guns, a 308 and a 6.5x284 Norma are both pacnor barrles. Both are hammers. I really, really hope they rebuild and continue to roll out great barrels.

Bad news for us gun owners but damn, at 66 I'd take that $4-6,000,000, give all the employees a nice transition check, and send everybody a post card from the beach in Columbia, Virgin Islands, Hawaii, or all three.

Why can't the factories making fucking Narcan burn the fuck down???

Saw ANOTHER overdose at the ER today as I was passing through to the rehabilitation center to see my mother. I don't think this fucker made it, judging by how the head docs kept shaking their heads at the nice flat laser-like line on the vitals screen. Fuck substance abusers. Our taxpayer dollars are being wasted on trying to save these scum.

What a shame! I've used their barrels and all were hamers! Hopefully no one was hurt and they'll come back with a new facility stronger than ever.

They absolutely will. Remember, Samuel Colt's Hartford factory also burned to the ground in 1862. Within a few months, the crew managed not only to pick back up but fulfill their commercial and military contracts to full scale.

I will absolutely donate to PAC-NOR if they appeal to us for assistance. If they do, please post the link ASAP.

Roughly 30% of opiate addicts get started after getting hooked on that shit from presecription pain killers. Every junkie started out as someone's child. A little compassion goes a long way.

My blank showed up yesterday. I got an email saying it would be shipping the day before. I was a little worried I might never see it. Glad they got it shipped. Sorry to hear about the fire. I've been using their blanks for customer barrels for years and they've always been outstanding. They were usually faster delivery then most of the other makers and I like their center turning better. I'll really miss them. I have a feeling they won't rebuild. Too much machinery and time. Unless he sells off to the employees he'll probably retire. Just my guess.

Getting hooked on prescription painkillers is the fault of the person taking them AND NO ONE ELSE. They do it because they want to. Then they become a burden on society.

Don't you dare blame doctors or pharmaceuticals for the weakness of people.

Narcan, not opioids, should be banned. Opioids perform a useful role in pain management. Narcan just revives worthless junkies to OD again.

While I agree with him the hammerless Chiefs Special kind of detracts from the "tough guy" policies and the sharpness of the uniform.

Its like Leroy Brown having a Chihuahua for a dog.

How bout a Python with Ivory grips or Pattons favorite a Registered Magnum S&W.

Concealed Carry guns are to be concealed.

I think that's his "office" gun

Ohio Sheriff (all 88 counties wear the same) and State Highway Patrol uniforms are boss tho......

He’s in a tough county opioid wise too. That area, especially Middletown proper is probably difficult to police.
Good for him.

It is, which is why he's fed up with that shit and the coddling approach taken by Dayton and Cinci asshole mayors. As the Sheriff, he answers to no one except the voters and the law.

Its like playing "6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon"

Someone posts a topic about something of interest to them than the rest of the Bear Pit tries to steer the topic to something they like to rant about within 6 posts.

1. Pac Nor Burns down
2. They make great barrels
3. I like their rifle barrels
4. I love shooting rifles
5. Im addicted to shooting rifles with their barrels
6. All heroin addicts need a kick in the nuts ------------------------Winner!

Some of those older rifling enterprises have some cool ass machines. Stuff they may have bought surplus from the govt with a history or stuff that cant be found today and what replaced it just isnt as good.

Ive visted the Battleship Massachusetts a few times.

One of my favorite display areas is the ship machine shop. You have to view it from outside its enclosure because its just chock full of all sorts of machines and tooling crammed in a relatively compact place.

Heavy shit - all cast or machined.

I think most of it is active as the vets and volunteers that work the ship probably practice their old rates making repairs.

I hope whatever Pac Nor lost is easily replaceable or replaced by better.

Trust me buddy, I got plenty of compassion. I am actually soft as fuck inside and that is the exact reason why I am a hardass on the outside. Even a baby crying tugs at my very heart strings. I will most likely run out of Jim Beam way before I run out of compassion...

However, people who do not cherish the health and well-being that God gave them receives no compassion from me.

Back to the regularly scheduled programming... I hope that most of the machinery can be salvaged, although they will have to undergo tests to make sure they can operate at their intended speeds and loads safely. Metal does not need to melt or warp to render equipment inoperable. Fire generates enough heat to change the tempers and material integrity in steel to create catastrophic consequences if ignored.
