I’m currently looking at the 6360 ALS/SLS model would anybody regard other models as better?

I will tell you this much, the ALS holster will be the only OWB holster Ill ever own again, and for many others I know as well. I just cant stand non-locking holsters any more, one time too many of my handgun getting thrown by my backpack strap, taking it off. The ALS is such a natural draw, disengaging the lock, it took no time going from a standard kydex holster to the ALS, and do difference in speed or efficiency in the draw. A secondary benefit is it wont wear down your finish no where near as fast as a kydex holster or other friction based holsters.

What are you using the holster for? That could change some answers. I dumped Ready Tactical for anything besides USPSA and went with the NERD. I use it mainly for 3G but I also use it around the farm a bit. I like the Safariland ELS system and have it on a few belts and packs.

Safariland holsters are pretty much bulletproof. You cant go wrong. Not the most concealable in the world, but for hard duty use, they cant be beat. I'm partial to the 6378 style series.

Two problems with the ALS that I've seen. If you try to draw without deactivating the retention, it can feal like the gun is locked in place. The retention device holds the firearm in place at the ejection port. If you draw up first and then try to deactivate it wont. You have to push the firearm back down and then deactivate. This is pretty common on the range with new users or when someone gets a little excited. They keep pulling up on the firearm while trying to deactivate the pressure keeps it from deactivating. I've seen several occasions where sand and rocks have got in the holster and then wedged between the retention bar while the firearm is still in the holster with prevents the ALS from being deactivated trapping the firearm in the holster. Just food for thought if your going to be spending sometime on the ground.

The best setup is a Safariland holster with the GCode duty belt/whatever mount that you simply get the Safariland conversion piece for.

Safariland's mounting system sticks out too far and is just weird to work with whereas GCode really shines there, and Safariland makes a vastly superior holster.

The Safariland holsters are peerless when it comes to mounting adaptability options for the end-user. These are just some of the ones I currently use, all are available for Glocks. IF you don't have to have the SLS then any of the new 7TS or GLS holsters are outstanding and are my favorites. The new holster polymer is stronger than ever and does not mar the finish of the firearm; thus they no longer have suede liners like the Model 6378' uses (still available). As mentioned above, their ELS / QLS mounting system allows attachment to chest rigs, drop legs, battle belts, hip paddles attachment to carbines for grab&go packages. You can get any of them thru holsters.com.

Here's the difference between the "cut down model" specifically intended for concealed carry and std. 7TS.

For 25 years I have been using some form of Safariland level II to III duty holster. I started with a Model 70 SSIII. I practiced for hours for a few weeks before switched over to that holster from a level I. It's still a great holster, but I think the ALS / SLS are better. Right now I'm using a 6390 ALS with a Guard. I like the way my thumb pushes the guard forward and then back for the ALS release. I like it better then the ALS / SLS release. Part of what I'm trying to say is they are great holsters, but you need to practice with them a lot. Under stress you need to perform 110% with your holster of choice. In training we make officers draw from the ground from seated in the car and with their weak hand. Practice practice and practice. I'm probably going to upgrade to a 7TS with a light in the same ALS/Guard format. If you wear body armor its a good thing the way the mounting system sticks out a little. If it is for concealment, not so good.

If you require the hood (SLS), you really need to spend a LOT of time practicing with it under non-optimal conditions and preferably under some stress (competition, timer, etc). It hangs up differently at different times.

If you don't require the hood, the basic ALS like the 6377 or 6378 (belt slide/pancake) works very very well. The ones pictured above may be better, but I've only used the 6377 as I hate the pancake attachment and never used the ones pictured above.

for an overt holster the Safariland ALS is my top choice (no Serpa, no Bladetech VTAC holster)

it's doesn't conceal worth a damn so I'd go a different route for concealment

What is your intended purpose? That is the key question.

I use an HSGI rigger's belt w/ an HSGI SureGrip belt along w/ a SafarilLand ALS/SLS (6360 light bearing) holster. I also use a SafariLand 2.5" drop attachment on my belt. This setup just rocks. However, it is a little warm around the waist at times.

I removed the bail (SLS) as I'm not required to have a hood. As for the suede or whatever the material is on the inside of the holster, it grips the gun pretty solidly. You'll need to spray some silicone all over it & it'll be slick as shit. Even when my holster gets dirty, & believe me when I say my shit gets dirty & abused regularly, it's still slick as shit. I've never had rocks get stuck in my release mechanism, etc. I've been using this holster for a few years now. I've run this setup everywhere from -34* F to 113*F w/ zero problems. If that's not a solid enough recommendation I don't know what else would convince you this loadout works.

I picked up a couple of 6378 ALS holsters (one that is plain black and one that is cordura camo wrapped) to try with the QLS system. I need to get a few of the nuts to attach the QLS plates to my paddle and maybe a dropleg rig but I can't find them anywhere. I've been to a few places in town and tried contacting safariland directly (that was a HUGE waste of time) but still can't find them. Anybody know where I can find 3-4 of the nuts?

UPDATE: Today Safariland customer service responded to the email I sent last month inquiring about the hardware and offered to send me what I need. I didn't get a name from the person who responded to the email so if it was you and you're reading this, THANK YOU!

You won't find the hardware about town.
