Sako 75 300wm scope mount.
The Sako 75 proprietary taped dovetail mounts limits the selection of ring mounts. One issue that I have had is that the vertical and horizontal plane of the dovetails are not level. I wanted to use a Near Manufacturing rail but I could not get a call back. I tried the one piece slip-on and set-screw picatinny rail but when the rings were tightened down it seriously flexed the scope. The MAKuick quick disconnect one piece mount worked well but I wanted the ability to swap out the scope to other rifles. I ended up going with the two piece picatinny mount. I had to hard set the mounts with a few sharp whacks using hard wood and a hammer because they do not use set screws. The issue I had was with the rear mount, when it was hard-set it torqued the scope 4 mills to the right and caused issues with the ring spacing being consistent with a one piece rail. I ended up leaving the rear mount a bit loose which allowed me to align the scope to the bore as well as keep the ring spacing consistent with standard pic. rails. I will take it out this weekend to see if it will keep POI.
If I am not mistaken, the Optilocks rear mount is a bit loose to allow the rear to "drift" during install to allow alignment of the scope?
