Picked up a sako All built in late 70’s early 80’s.
308 winchester
Went to cycle some dummy rounds. They would not cycle. Hanging up about 1/2 way to being chambered. Looks like cartridge is to far to the left. I can slam it and will chamber. Marks on the shoulder area. These were sized in a Forster small base die. Cartridge is 2.795 overall length. Tried brand new lapua brass. Same result. Same result with 3 in magazine.
Anybody have a idea on what is going on.

Thanks

I assume its still the CFR with the static ejector - If you take the bolt out and slip a round under the extractor, does it sit more or less in line with the bolt?

Im pretty sure the Aii is a push, not a controlled. My AV is. Sounds like the feed lips are pushing it too far left if it does it on every round. Mag boxes should be easy to find amd cheap.

I think I have found the problem.
sometime in the past someone must have increased spring pressure on the follower. This caused the round to be forced up against the bottom of the feed rail and as you pushed the bolt forward the bullet went up the feed ramp but the base of the case would not release out of from under feed rail causing the case to bind at a angle nose left and base under feed rail from to much spring tension. I messed with the spring tension till the case released from feed rail and entered the chamber in a straight forward motion.
still not absolutely perfect but a 200% better. Looking for new factory spring now.
now to get it cleaned up. Lots of old oil and and gunk. Bluing and stock 95%.
let’s hope it shoots decent.

thanks guys
