I was in the market for a nice .22lr bolt action. Kept playing the bidding game on gunbroker.com on a few CZ452 varmint. After that last one went for $680 I got discouraged. Always wanted a Finnfire Range and found a Finnfire Varmint instead. But the seller has a Range as well and is loaning me the stock for duplication. Thanks CA for giving me 10 days of agony to drool for my new purchase.
You guys in the insta-check states sure are lucky!

The person I will be useing for duplicating is Murrays Gunstocks in Portland Or. Maybe I can have him make a plug from the original and then have it on hand for others down the road.
He said maybe around $185 to duplicate plus adjustable check piece hardware and install if someone did no want to do it themselves. And there will be some finish sanding and oil. He may offer turn key stocks but I am trying to keep my cost down.

Got out to do some shooting with the Sako today. Shot maybe a dozen kinds of ammo, everything from Wolf match, eley, lapua, Winchester super X and Aguila match. The lapua grouped 3/4 to 7/8" at 50 yards. Which I am glad because $20 a box would kill me. I was hopeing the Wolf would be the best. It grouped .4"/.5" at 50. The best turned out to be the Aquila match. Below is how it did. 5 shots at 50yrd. Not sure what hole the 5th went thru.
One of the highlites was the new SFWA 16X scope with Mil/Mil. Tossed it on and with no adjustments it was on target with wolf ammo at 50 yards. I took it as a sign. But the glass was quite good, I like the mil/mil turetts and reticle and it tracked very well. Dialed in at 50 yards and went all the way to 250 yards no problem without a dip 20 moa rail. I think I will stick with the dovetail now.
Next is to put on a bipod. I forgot to even bring any bags and shot off a folded up jacket so a bipod will solve that. And I think I want to do a trigger job. There has to be something that I can improve. It was krisp and no travel but it was a little heavy for my taste.

I had the same experience with the trigger on my P 94s. There is some adjustment on the stock trigger and it did lighten it up some but it could definitely benefit from a trigger job or an upgraded trigger. I think Kurt Westfall makes some sort of hanger or modification that will all youto use a remington jewel trigger. This is his email if your interested. [email protected]
