Anyone had any problems with their Sako (22LR) suddenly failing to extract? I haven't had a problem for 2 years and then suddenly a couple days ago it starts failing half the time. The bolt was clean and cleaning the chamber doesn't seem to have helped any. The extractor looks fine to my eye, but I've really nothing to compare it too as I've never paid it much attention until it failed. I've only ever fed it FGMM, so unless the QC on the ammo suddenly took a dive mid-lot I don't think that's the problem.

Re: Sako Quad fail-to-extract

I had to modify the angle of the extractor to make it consistently extract. I believe there is a thread over on rimfirecentral that has a picture of what needs to be removed/sharpened. Also I believe Gizzy over at RFC now offers the fix as a service he can perform.

Re: Sako Quad fail-to-extract

I had that issue with a lot of SK Std+. They wouldn't extract. Turned out there was a bit of a burr around the mouth of the cases that wouldn't extract, and it could be felt running your finger over it. More than half the rounds in the lot had that issue, and I had a case of it. The Bentz chamber in my 10/22 didn't seem to mind them though, so they still got used. Switching ammo in the Quad fixed the problem.

Same with mine. It was having issues with most of the ammo I tried. The angle was filed more dramatically (like the barb on a hook if that helps visualize it) and now it will extract ANYTHING.
