Hey Guys, need a little advise, I'm looking at a used Sako trg 22 308. Owner says he's fired approximately 400-450 rounds. My question is how many rounds can be fired out of these guns before they start to loosing accuracy. tks

A TRG or any other bolt gun in 308 should last a lot longer than 400-500, as in it's possible to get more than 10k rounds out of one. Don't worry, get it and you'll be happy,

Man, that barrel has barely been fired. Thats only a few trips to the range. Many matches request that you bring 200 rnds or more for one match. For a .308, its nothing.

thanks guy's, I'm to this and this forum. Now what do you guy's think of this gun in 20" or 26" barrel. Called beretta today and they told me that the TRG 22 now will only offered in 20 barrel. I'm not going to be doing a lot of shooting past 300-400 yards. Do you guy's think I would be better served with the 20" ??

Do some more reading here and you will answer your own questions. 20" is enough for 1000+ yards.

It really comes down to handiness. The 20" model is lighter, fits lower in a pack, easier to carry, easier to get cases for, easier to get into/out of your car, and is adequate for 1000 yards.
The 26" model will get better velocity, obviously. Not even "much" velocity - say 100fps (ish), but every bit does help. At 400 yards, won't make a lick of difference, but out past 750 or so, it WILL hold the wind a little better...
The velocity loss is usually worthwhile in a 308, but there will be some.
You'll have to assess your priorities. For me, with a bolt gun, I'll usually choose a longer barrel.

I have a TRG 22 that was a 26" and had it cut to 20". Hitting 8" steal at 1000 was no problem. I even did it weak side and hit it 5 in a row. I was shooting hand loads 155 A-Max with a MV of 2780.

I have a 26 TRG and it's going to be sent to be cut down to 20 any day now. 400-450 rounds is nothing to even worry about. If you like the rifle otherwise, get it. You will enjoy the hell out of it.

My TRG22 has about 6000 rds through it and still shoots under 0.5m with its favoured handload.

Don't know about a TRG 22 but I have a remington that has seen 5000+ rds of federal GM 168gr ammo and it still holds 3/8" at 100 all day. Never mind my handloads. I dont know how many rnds you have to put thru a .308 to shoot it out but I'am trying.

Agreed, but I prefer the 24" barrel. Just one mans opinion. You will love the TRG 22 in 308.

guy's here my dilemma, a TRG from EuroOptic will run me $3 g's. The used TRG with the 26" barrel I can pick up for $2400. the owner says he's fired 400-450 rounds with it. Now I have only seen photos I have not had this gun in my hands. therefore I can only go with what he's as far as to condition. I guess it comes down to either saving $600 bucks or going for it and getting the new one. I guess I'm trying to pick everybody's brain, which I appreciate very much..

For $600 difference, personally, I would go with new. I have one of EuroOptics TRGs in .260 Remington and it is by far the best rifle I have ever owned. I'm sure the .308s are every bit as good.

For $600 difference, personally, I would go with new. I have one of EuroOptics TRGs in .260 Remington and it is by far the best rifle I have ever owned. I'm sure the .308s are every bit as good.

I'm leaning more towards going for it and getting a new gun, I have only spoken with the owner of this used gun threw emails and he sounds like he could be a real nice guy. I tell myself that if your going to spend this kind of money on a gun you might as well start with a new one so there are no doubts of what you got..

You'd be ok with the used TRG, but with very little price difference, the new TRG sounds like a good option. And if you order for EuroOptics, you will know exactly what you're getting. That company is as good to go as they come.

Man I bought a TRG 42 338LM (green stock and phosphate bbl) from Eurooptics and it was $2800. It's still $2800 on their site, but a TRG 22 is $3048 for 20" OR 26". I knew the prices were going up, but that's ruff. I thought they used to be $2600.
Heck I got my TRG 22 here on the Hide, BNIB with a muzzle break and 3 magazines for $2900.

I got the gun for roughly half the new price and it turned out to be the bargain of the century. The TRG has turned out to be the best firearm i have ever bought, very accurate, comfortable, tough as old nails and an absolute joy to shoot. There are very few milspec sniper rifles that you cab buy and go Fclassing with and be competitive with the custom 32 inch barrel jobs but the TRG is. Great gun, haggle for the used gun and dont look back.

Save the money and buy one or two extra mags from Euro optic, and some components and go shoot.
Love my 20" TRG in .308. Although lately I've been running it with another barrel I had made up in .260.

+1 for the TRG. I bought new (mines a 42) from Alex at Eurooptics great people and great customer service. but I too would save the $ and check out the used rifle. Buy ammo etc and shoot that thing! That's why we got 'em! $600 buys alot of FGMM.(600+ rounds from my supplier)

Bought my TRG 42 (338 Lapua) slightly used, and have been entirely happy with it.
I am new to precision rifle shotoing, but last weekend, on a target sheet with nine 3-shot groups, 3 were 1/2 or smaller, and the smallest was under 1/4 inch!
