Sako trg .308 handload

Re: Sako trg .308 handload

42 grains of IMR 4064 with 168hpbt or 42.3 with 175's. Try a couple with a little lower charge and watch for the pressure. (with the above loads in my setup im getting about 2650fps with consistant good groups) lapua or nosler brass works for me fed 210m primers are king

Re: Sako trg .308 handload

For my TRG-22 I load 175 SMK's, Winchester or BHA brass, 45gr. Varget, Fed 210M primers,OAL 2.884" which jumps 0.010". A friend with a TRG-22 uses the same length and our chambers measure the same to 0.001". Muzzle velocity on a 70 deg day is 2710fps. This load consistently shoots 3/4" groups at 200 yards. I haven't done any load development; just took this load from the internet and set the OAL for 10 mil jump. It is not worth trying to improve it.

For long range I am playing with 210 SMK's, 48gr RL-17, m.v. 2540fps. OAL of 2.940 barely fits in the mag, but has to jump 0.050". The 200 yard groups were consistently less than 1", a bit worse than the 175gr load - perhaps because of the longer jump. Jury still out but they should work better at 1000 yards.

Re: Sako trg .308 handload

This is the load I use in my TRG-22,and I have to try to make it shoot less than 1/2"
lapua brass
168 Nosler Custom Comp bullet
43.5 IMR 4064
CCI BR-2 primer
2.850 OAL
45.0 Varget is almost as accurate out of this rifle. I have been using the IMR load in all of my 308's, and get outstanding accuracy out of all of them.
I tried using 155 and 175 SMK but the 168 seems to be the best in my guns.
