Anyone have a TRG-42 in 300WM and a load for the 160gr Warner Flatline bullets?

I'd like to get someone elses load as a starting point...

    Yep, I did.

    For what it’s worth:

    180gr WTC
    Brux KRG 1:10 BBL
    Sako TRG 42A1
    75gr RL22
    3219FPS

Laughs at 6-10MPH crosswinds at up to 1000 yards.

You haven’t just started with a book load and worked it up after 5 years?
One thing to keep in mind is that Warner does not give you a book load… it gives you a maximum charge and approximate barrel length for you then figure it out on your own.

This is not what you see in other reloading manuals.

Wow. You really hung in there waiting on an answer. I tip my hat to you.

Now were you looking for load data for the 160 or 180? Cause you've mentioned both in this thread.

    I tried the 180's in my B14 HMR with a 26" 10 twist tube.

Going off memory here. So beware. Peterson brass. Power Pro 4000 MR powder. Federal 215 or Rem 9½M... I'd have to dig up my notes but I think best groups were at 73.5 gr

Groups were well under an inch. Velocity was 3150ish? Probably a tad warm, but neither the rifle, brass, or primers complained.

They shot good enough I considered getting more... But $1.60 a pop. And long enough I had to single feed them... Just never chased it anymore. Think I still have 15 bullets left in the box.

Alan makes a great bullet though. I have to give him that.

I’ve got a bunch of the 160s and wanted to see if anyone had a decent load for them.

I did opt to go down the 180 road, and the load I came up with worked without a hitch. At 100 yards it’s one ragged hole…

The caveat being that the factory 300wm barrel did not like them in that particular rifle… so I got SAC to take off the OEM barrel and put on a Brux KRG Sotic BBL w/ their barrel nut system.

What is interesting is that I found a workable 225ELDM load that actually shoots well in the new barrel. The ballistic coefficient is crazy enough that it would compete relatively well with the 180WTC in many situations.

This is basically being shot at sea level… so obviously there is a considerable difference between the overall drop at 1000 yards.

Where things drastically change is when you shoot them at more than 1000 yards…

Shooting out west and higher elevations and the 180 WTC starts to shine. Especially if you’re someplace like Colorado.
