Sako TRG 42 and factory bipod not attaching

I bought the rifle second hand. It had a spigot attached which I removed because I wanted to use the factory bipod. The latch doesn’t seem to engage -at all- to secure the bipod to the rifle.

Am I missing anything glaringly obvious?

You are missing a little metal plate that stops wear and locks the bipod in.

Adapter for RH50 bipod. You can use another adapter type for another bipod.

Thank you both very much. When I called in to Sako after waiting over an hour on hold, the customer service representative (while very kind) was very unfamiliar with the rifle and was of no help to remedy the issue.

New Trg22 owner here. My rifle came with the picatinny bipod mount which I removed. Now I am in search of the little bolt that holds the reinforcement plate to the aluminum rail. I have the steel plate, but the original bolt is MIA. Do you happen to know the spec on that bolt? I am thinking it is an M7x1mm. I have reached out to Sako as well as scoured the exploded parts diagram. I see the plate listed, but no attaching bolt.

You might try a screw M5x.8 pitch as that is what they use to attach various tactical rails to the chassis front area.

Thanks for the reply. I went to my local Ace Hardware and bought a M6 and M8, both of which didn't work. The M7 is like a Unicornfor whatever reason. Maybe it's a machine screw, I don't know. I find it odd the reinforcement plate is on the exploded diagram but not the bolt. It'd be nice if I could drag in my gun to the store and start sorting through bolts. I'll post back here when I get it sorted.

Pull the action from the backbone if you want to take it into the store to try find the correct bolt. It’s just a chunk of aluminium.

The TRG-manual states it as a M5x10 and the screw I pulled off a backbone measures accordingly. Don't have a thread comb but I would guess that jet_lagged is correct with the 0,8 pitch.

As it turned out the hole was drilled and countersunk but not taped, as I was thinking it would be; so a CS bolt and nut was all it took. Thank you for taking the time to help.
