    A little background.
My father-in-law is a class 3 FFL. He doesn't shoot much anymore. When he does it's mostly Class 3 stuff from time to time, and he mostly deals with law enforcement in his business. Several yrs ago he had a bad experience with reloaded ammo so he quit reloading and just buys surplus stuff. fast forward...

Last week while I was visiting he told me he'd decided to give me all of his reloading equipment for Christmas..I knew he was planning to give me his Dillon 550 but it took us a couple of hours to pack it all up.

The short story is a Dillon 550 with full setups for .308, .223 and 45 (maybe more, I'm not sure exactly how meny die sets/shell plates and die plates were in there. Lots of dillon accessories, a Lyman power trimmer, enough primers in all sizes to last me for the rest of my life, and a bunch of LC M80 ammo, a full 5 gallon bucket of polished deprimed mixed .223, a few hundred .223 bullets, a few hundred cast .45 SWCs (we split them into 2 ammo cans to keep the weight reasonable). At some point I started feeling guilty, it was like I hit the reloader lottery.

Now I gotta make room for it all before it gets shipped.

Pretty much the same one that I've heard from several people who shoot class 3 stuff. Squib that was enough to cycle the action but left a bullet in the tube. It makes a mess.

In the wayback I saw squibs on USPSA/IPSC shoots more than once. Guys double tap so fast that neither the scorer or the RO can react fast enough to stop you from dropping the hammer if it cycles. Never seen anyone hurt and I never saw anyone have to drive more than 2 out of the barrel, but it's not good for the equipment and it can hurt you. Only time it ever happened to me I noticed and didn't shoot the second round.

    Excellent XTR!

    Aren't Father's great?

I was in your neck of the woods in April of '09' for my daughter's rowing team trip to the Southeast regional finals held at the Melton Hill Lake rowing center (They took a silver in the lightweight girls 4 boat!).

Great part of the country! And Atomic Rowing (Oak Ridge) are great hosts!

My wife and I have rowed there, I live about 10 miles from the rowing facility, (20 min away) She rowed at UMass-Lowell for a semester.

    Congrats I share your enthusiasm!

I have a dear friend in St. Louis that I have been wanting to visit and go shooting with for some time now but I haven’t had the time or money to get up there. So for a Christmas present my wife purchased tickets to see him. Well when I called to share the good news he told me to bring spare luggage to get present number 2 which is his old Dillon 550 that he used to reload with!

I’ll be heading out next week and I can’t wait!
