Re: Savage 110 BA in .338 Lapua

Saw one of those bad boys at Cabelas for the first time the other day in 300WM. Been jonesin for one ever since. Killer price! And its a Savage so you know its a shooter. Wonder what twist the barrels come in.

Re: Savage 110 BA in .338 Lapua

I believe the 300WM is 1:10, and the 338 is 1:9....savage tends to provide plenty of twist in their rifles.

There is a thread about the 338 110 on sniper central. IIRC, a good amount of reviews and load info. I like Savage, but don't care for the "styling" of these particular models. The muzzle brake on them is FAR superior to the other mere mortal-priced 338LM....the 700.

Re: Savage 110 BA in .338 Lapua

Had my 110BA in 338LM for little over a year now, they are a 1:9 twist which favors the hvy pills. I have experimented with several powders and loads and have 2 which I shoot. I use Lapua brass and FGGM mag primers, when I shoot the 250gr pills I use 88gr of H4831SC but my go to load is 82.5gr N560 with 300gr sceaners and have had no problems out to 1500yds. When I do my part it has no problems holding.75-1 MOA at that distance. I will be going out to 2000 soon and again if I can do my part I expect will have no problems. The 110BA ie my favorite rifle to shoot,I shoot suppressed and it has less recoil than my .308 did before suppressed. Be well aware that it is costly to shoot and that is even reloading but I knew that before I bought. Good luck on your decision but the new Savages rock!
