I am just getting into the long range shooting and I want some no bs honest opinions. I am looking heavily at the nightforce optics to put on this rifle, however, I want something that will let me go from 100yds to 1500yds if need be. No more than 2gs is my budget. Help me out.

Whatever optic you choose make sure you get rings that are up to the task. I can say from personal experience with that rifle that Burris xtreme tactical rings are marginal. I say nightforce scope and nightforce rings.

Where the hell are you shooting 1500 yards around spring? Used NF F1 or Razor.

Theres a range down in pearland I am going to go join that has a 1000yd range. Plus my parents own land in Wyoming and Montana so there is plenty of open range up there. I wish there was a place in Spring where I could!

Re: Savage 110BA 338 Optics??

I know that every one wants to spend the big bucks on a scope and so do I but I some times wonder? I have the same gun and have a temporary scope on it, a 3X9 Leupold AR with MIL dots. I used it at a shoot two weeks ago @ 600 and 880. @ 600 it wasn't too bad @ 880 it was a little stretch. Its a one shot deal. You get one shot @ 600 and @ 880 I only had 18 rnds through my Savage 110 and still testing loads. @ 600 I was 10" from dead center and 16" from dead center @ 880 this was fighting a 5-8 mph wind and 10+ mph gusts. I shot my friends 300 RUM @ the 880 and my 110. He has a 6-20 VX III on his gun. It is dialed in except for the wind and I was 4" from the shot I took with my Savage. I don't feel to bad about that. And that's chugging along @ 2500 fps. I'm not claiming to be the best shot either. It was better looking through the VX III don't get me wrong, but what I'm saying is it can be done with less money. Now on that note in the next day or so my Vortex Viper PST 6-24X50 is going on the Savage. I hope it rocks? I have looked through the Razor and the 4-16 PST and there very nice so I went that route. It was that or the 8-25 VX III. I have a few of these already and wanted to try something else.

I think I found my scope. I have found a zeiss with the z1000 reticle and I really like it. Plus I have herd nothing but positive about them and every I know who has one has been nothing but happy. Plus this one doesnt break the bank. What kind of ammo are you shooting? I was going to go with the black hills 300gr since that is what is recommended by all with the 1:9 twist of the barrel.

Re: Savage 110BA 338 Optics??

I know a few of my buddies who shoot .338 Lapua bought the New Sightron SIII 8-32 mil/mil. Good amount of elevation for the amount of magnification and some of the best turrets/glass for the money.(approx $800)
