OK...so I acquired a Savage 112 from a friend for the right price (free!). It had been in a house that had been flooded while he was on vacation and was "ruined" with rust. On a hail mary, he stripped the thing down to nothing and sanded it down to bare metal to just paint it and try to save something.
Well his skills were not quite up to par and he couldn't get it reassembled again. Me being the helping type, agreed to take it off his hands. SO, my problem is this...in putting it back together I see that there is a factory preset on the front locknut that determines the depth of the firing pin strike (forgive my ignorance of technical terminology, I understand all the mechanics, but am still learning some verbiage). Well, he had stripped even that down to insure there was no lingering rust.
Is there a way for me to set this, or does it need to go back to the factory?
