savage .22lr & wrfm magazines

Re: savage .22lr & wrfm magazines

I don't see that being possible. If that was the case Savage would only need to sell one magazine... Look at the mags and look at the round. One mag is curved, one is straight. The WMR is almost twice the size of the LR round.

I took a look the other night at this.

This is the 22WMR in the MKII mag.

Are you trying to do this or asking if the outer dimension on the magazines the same? I'm confused on the question really. To me I don't see any way of it working. You can't fit the 22wmr round in the MKII magazine, you can't use the 22wmr mag in the MKII rifle, and you can't use the the 22MKII in a 22WMR rifle.

Re: savage .22lr & wrfm magazines

On E receiver guns (introduced sometime in 2008, call savage they can tell you by serial number if yours is Pre-E or E) the actions for 22lr and 22wmr are the same, so either mag would work in the action. Not sure on the older ones, but I have a pre-E 93 and a pre-E mk II so if I remember I'll check tonight. Won't be able to do an ammo feed test of course, but at least I'll be able to tell if the mag will seat.

Thanks for the pictures. Explaines a lot. Never messed with a .22mag. Didn't realize there was that much difference in size. Guess I'll need new bottom metal unless the magazine wells are the same on the newer models as Ivanthesane suggests.
