I just wanted to post this to get opinions on the Savage .243. I would like to make my own scout/sniper rifle, but don't know whether to buy the Savage 110 or the Savage .243. As o now I'm leaning towards the .243, because its smaller and lighter, but can still do some damage. I'm only looking for opinions and facts, not trash talk and garbage.

Re: Savage .243?

Savage rifles are great platform to work on......110,111,112,etc is the long action where as the 10,11,12's are the short action.
Plenty custom parts (not as many as the Remingtons) barrel swap is easy. A lot of the custom barrel makers have pre-fit barrels for the Savage. Look into the Stevens line as it is a little cheaper (but the same action) Check out SavageShooters.com ...
a Lot of good info and folks who deal with Savages.
Build what you want........if you don't ......you're not going to be happy no matter what it is.
