Savage AICS question

Hi, I've been trying to find info on the Savage AICS stock they made several years back. I bought one when they first came out, after what seemed like waiting forever for them to be released. Apparently, I was one of the first to get one when they were like hen's teeth, so I posted pics, etc. on here, but again, that was several years back, around 2011 or 12, and I cannot find that thread. I'm guessing it was deleted when this site was updated, perhaps?

Anyway, I had put together a rig with the SWFA 5-20 that I got when we did the initial group buy thing, and zeroed it, but then my health problems took a turn for the worse, and it has sat in a safe since then. Since I'm unable to shoot anymore, I was debating what stuff to maybe cut loose, and I tried to look up those stocks on the net, to see if I'd be better off separating it and selling it, and can't seem to find anything. By all appearances, it seems as if perhaps they didn't make too many before stopping production.

Was this due to a problem with them of some sort, or the confusion about the different models of Savages that would not fit in the chassis, or what? Perhaps they just weren't selling like the ones that fit the Remingtons. I scoured the net and couldn't find squat, so any info would be much appreciated.

Here's a pic.

Correct, and I remember at the time there was a bunch of confusion amongst potential buyers of the chassis, due to Savage having recently (at the time) introduced new variables to their action regarding bolt spacing, safety, magazine... That's why I'm wondering what the heck happened with the production of them, and how long were they actually made?

Nice chassis! Not sure how many were made but yeah it looks like the number is very small compared to Rem. There was a talk of them making Tikka AICS too but I don't believe they have made any. Here is mine that I got in late 2013. Currently with a 223 barrel.

Mine is actually FDE, it just looks green in that pic due to the light. So no one knows why they quit making them? Hard to believe they couldn't sell enough to justify production.

That’s a LOT more money than most savage owners were willing to shell out.
Especially then.
Great looking savage.
Love the look of the early AI chassis!

Yeah, I think I gave like $1,200 or something like that for that stock at the time. I had one for a remington I had and really liked it, so I said screw it, and ponied up the dough. Then I put the SWFA 5-20 on it, so that was like $2,500 worth of kit or so. But I put a $400 rifle in it because Savage had just come out with that "hog hunter," and it had the right action bolt spacing, mag type, safety on top, big bolt handle, and factory threaded barrel. Everything I wanted, including, of course, Savage's easy change barrel. It just seemed weird at the time putting such a cheap gun in such an expensive chassis, and putting good glass on it, LOL.

But I remember at the time, all the Savage guys were going nuts because we had been strung along by A.I. for quite a while regarding that stock, and many thought it would never be released. Well, I guess I got lucky at the time, and was one of the first guys to get one. It may have been from mile high.

Anyway, my health has kept me off the range since not long after that, and that was like 8 years ago, so I am very out of the loop on things in the firearms world. I decided to cut some stuff loose, and thought I'd look those stocks up on the net to see what they were going for, in case I'd be better off splitting the rig up and selling everything separately, but I couldn't find anything about them, so I am guessing they didn't have them in production for very long, which could be a good thing due to rarity, or a bad thing due to either a problem with them, or worse yet, no one really wanting them. I find it very unlikely for the latter to be the case, though. The mystery continues.....

OK, so I finally got smart and did what I should've done in the beginning...... called A.I. They told me the chassis for the Savage simply didn't sell well enough to keep producing it. It sounds like they only made it a couple years, so that would explain why I can't find any info elsewhere on the net. Obviously, there are not near as many guys pouring money into their custom Savage build as there are Remingtons, but it still shocks me there were not enough to at least justify continuing production. Oh well, at least now we know. Perhaps that means I can consider it a "collector's item" now and ask millions for it, LOL. Hey, one can dream, can't he?
