Ordered a new Savage Arms 110 BA .338 Lapua Magnum, picking it up on Thursday and cant wait. Ive a number of questions for those who have had experience with the optimal set up as well as range time.
One quick thing Id like to offer first though. I speak a little Finnish, and Lapua is pronounced LA-puwha with the accent on the 1st syllable 'La' and the 'pua' spoken softly, almost a single syllable. Im sure your life is now complete that you know this! So...
1) What is the best bi-pod and with what type of attachment?
2) What do I need to add to the handguard to attach a bipod? I want as low a profile as possible to the barrel (when the legs are up)?
3) What is the best monopod for the stock? ( think I know, but humor me!)
4) What is the best scope? Im ready to lay down some cash, so Im not looking for a budget deal. I prefer high magnification, illuminated retical and want good low light capability. I have a Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50mm LR/T M1 Illuminated Reticle for the LR308, but I want a better scope for the Savage.
5) What is the best type of retical for this rifle? MOA or???
6) I like a quick detach integrated scope rings. Any opinion on that or recommendations on manufacturer or style and height?
7) Im considering a desert tan or perhaps a top quality camo pattern. Any opinions or recommendations? Should I just leave it black?
8) Is the pistol grip OK? It looks a little wonky! Should I loook into the many other AR tyoe pistol grips? (I assume they will fit??!?
9) Where can I get a couple spare magazines?
10) Are there any cool accessories for this rifle? I love to accessorize (they are the man's version of a barbi doll, you know!) ;-)
11) Is the case worthy or should I invest in a good kit?
12) I want to add a carrying handle. Ive added a Mako GMG Picatinny Swivel Carry Handle to my LR308. Is this the best option available?
13) I have a Monstrum Military style green laser rifle sight Im considering to add to the right side rail. Am I wasting my time?
Lastly, what are the weaknesses, if any, of this rifle?

Weaknesses: Tri scope rail. Its aluminum, flimsy, ugly...junk.

Check this thread for what all I did to mine, I like it now.

Only thing different since then is added a Murphy Prec. 65moa base and sprayed the barreled action black.

Id reconsider on your scope, the mark 4 is lacking in elevation adjustment. If you want bang for your buck grab a Vortex Razor. First focal, excellent reticle if you go EBR-2B, and loads and loads of elevation travel (with 65moa base I still have 2.5mils below my zero at 100yds if that says anything).

BTW you would probably get more responses in the bolt rifle section.

Hi jonaddis84, I took your recommendation on the scope. I like it, but I need high or extra high scope rings. I have not had a lot or success finding 35mm scope rings in extra high around Dallas.
As to the rail, I will only attach my Monstrum miliray green laser to the right side and consider it as only a spotting tool to acquire/reaquire and verify my target quickly, so I hope that the concerns you have with the rail will not effect me much.
Thanks for your advice, and Ill repost this in the bolt action later as you suggested.
