Gunsmithing Savage barrel on a Marlin XS7?

Has anyone tried this? I picked up an XS7 chambered in 308 for $250 on sale at Cabela's a few days ago and haven't had time to pull the barrel off and check myself yet, I was told that they have the same thread pitch and shank diameter as savage though, just curious as this action seems like a very well thought out copy of many other designers ideas

and i'd like to play with it a little...

From what I've read they are interchangeable. For more info go to the marlinowners.com forum

Mr. Humble had a thread about this. It did work to a point. There were some issues with the gap between the bolt cone and the barrel I think. Here is the thread.
