Remington fan? lol.
I don’t care, lol.Prepare to be abused!
Ya, honestly a Howa or Tikka isn’t even going to compare to my 1903 I had that was manufactured in 1925. That was a sweet smooth action. It also shot 2” groups at 200 yards with cheap Remington Corelokt ammo.I've got one that I've put way too much money in, so I'll play. 6 creed, 20" barrel, savage 10. I hate the action to the core of my being, but the barrel shoots 1/2moa or better, and I'm slinging an 87gr V-max at almost 3,400 if my memory serves. It kills coyotes like lightning bolts from the sky. I'll be moving it along soon though, it just isn't my thing. Don't say a damn word about my wife's breakfast nook either.
You`ve done it now! Said something less than glowing concerning Tikka and Howa, both of which are forged on the anvil of God himself. Awe shit! I might a well keep going then. I actually really like savage and I’m considering another 110 in 308 for hunting! You`ve done it now! Said something less than glowing concerning Tikka and Howa, both of which are forged on the anvil of God himself. Blasphemy!
Well, I`m pretty sure there are those who will see your post and consider you either ignorant, lower socio-economic group, mentally defective, or all three. By the way, although I don`t think they`re perfect by any means, I like mine too. Guess we`re just a part of the " unwashed masses ". I would hazard a guess that the majority of Savage rifles out there are hunting rifles ( Axis models and 110s ) as opposed to long range, precision target guns. That`s certainly the case at the range at which I shoot. As such, I would also hazard another guess that the single most important feature that most of those owner/shooters value is the ability of the gun to hit the target out of a cold bore with sufficient accuracy to anchor whatever animal. Howa`s, Tikkas, Bergaras, etc., etc., etc., fine rifles all, no question. Do they hit the target better than the aforementioned Savage guns, thus better meeting that most valued characteristic mentioned above......?Awe shit! I might a well keep going then. My goodness!! I don`t see how one could possibly miss with these rigs! LOL, look more like ray guns than actual rifles in the conventional sense! By the way, not a knock, just an observation by an old guy!Savage Model 10 FCP-SR in 6.5 Creedmoor. MDT LSS-XL Gen 2 Chassis, XLR Industries Extreme Buttstock, Vortex Golden Eagle in Vortex Precision Rings, MDT Vertical Grip, Atlas BT-10 Bipod and other goodies......

Gonna maybe build me a .338 Lapua on the same idea next Summer 'cause I like this stick so much.

I agree. Honestly mine does pretty week so far with the hand loads I’ve developed so far. I know it’ll be good out to 1300+ in current form. I’m hoping to possibly get it out to one mile at some point if I can get a load to stabilize that far.Well, I`m pretty sure there are those who will see your post and consider you either ignorant, lower socio-economic group, mentally defective, or all three. Very nice! I’d do a .338 Lapua if .50BMG wasn’t cheaper, lol. Currently building DMR .308 atm.Savage Model 10 FCP-SR in 6.5 Creedmoor. As was my 110 Storm in .223. It`s a hunting rifle in all respects as opposed to a precision target gun. I was prepared to be satisfied if it would run " Minute of Coyote " at 100 yards but it has far exceeded that . Exceeded in a good way, I mean.To be fair, my Savage was sub MOA gun right out of the box with the original plastic stock and Accu-Trigger....

All the other goodies brought the group size down to .5 MOA at 100 yards and really starts to help as we push out to 600 - 1000 yards. Recoil is virtually nothing now and with the weights I add to get the balance I can follow thru much better and actually watch bullet trace under the right conditions as the rifle wants to recoil straight back now
I gotta admit that a lot of this stuff is there to make things easy and get attention. It's always good for a good conversation at the range.

Nice. I was looking at something along the lines of the Apex Hunter XP Timberline or the 110 Predator.High Country. The spiral fluted barrel is definitely eye catching.
Tikka > HowaYou`ve done it now! Said something less than glowing concerning Tikka and Howa, both of which are forged on the anvil of God himself. Blasphemy!
Yeah man! Really stooping to a new low just by being here with us " irredeemables "!So this is what’s it feels like to be slummin
I had a Savage once. Shot really well and was accurate. Just action over all was crap and wouldn’t eject after a few hundred rounds. It was accurate though.
Was it a chamber issue or just maybe a faulty extractor? I imagine it would’ve been an easy enough fix. Also some savage rifles are better than others. Obviously the 110 is smoother than the Axis II. IIRC the first gen Axis had issues. So this is what’s it feels like to be slummin

Yes, a little short on information as to what model and what he might have done, if anything, to try to address the issues. If I had a gun that was good at putting bullets on target I think I`d at least take a pass at trying to fix whatever might ail it.Was it a chamber issue or just maybe a faulty extractor? Nice... beautiful wood work.Top one is built on an original 112V series J from the 70's which where all single shots. Gun is in 223 and was the first bolt gun for my kid. Think he was 12 at the time.
The original stock on the 112V was modified for an adjustable cheek piece. Doan Trevor did the stock alteration. The adjustable hardware for the cheek piece is from Terry Cross @KMW.
Bottom pic....that's a left hand 110S factory stock but Savage never made the 110S (silhouette rifle) in left hand. Action was originally a sporter action from the late 60's. Think 1966 it was made. Stripped the action for the build and is now in 6.5CM.
