savage Mark II G or Mark II F

Went to the local gunshop today to buy my first bolt action .22lr. I'm torn between two guns the first a used mark II g with 5 extra clips and a scope for 230. The second a new mark II f for 205. Should I just spend a little more coin and get the fv.

Go with the G model that has 5 mags & scope.

You won't be able to tell the difference on the bull barrel model for quite a while, and the extras make it worth the price.

Besides, the plain synthetic Savage stock has been known to flex easily and rub on the barrel, messing up peoples shots. The G model with the heavy wood stock won't have that issue.

thanks for the help i also called the local dicks sporting goods and they have a Savage FVXP .22, Green synthetic stock, 21" fluted barrel, 5rd mag for 240 but i'm not sure if that comes with a scope or not.

The "XP" designation generally denotes a package deal that includes a scope. I know Dick's also usually carries a GXP (hardwood stock with a scope) for around $170...

so i ended up going with the fvxp
just ordered a rock mount bipod, and looking at some new glass for it.
