Anyone shooting a Mark 2 got bullets that are doing well? All I have access to are Remington, Federal, Winchester, but I can order something if it will shoot better. My rifle has consistent fliers, about 2 out of 5. Thanks...

The priming is not as reliable, but they shoot straight.

Re: Savage Mk II .22 LR ammo

Fliers are definitely going to deal with using the less expensive ammo.

I found that the majority of my rimfires shoot decent enough with CCI SV. They may shoot better with some of the more expensive ammo out there, but the $6.49 per 100 rounds is as high as I really want to go right now. I don't shoot well enough to justify anything more expensive right now.

Re: Savage Mk II .22 LR ammo

Mine really likes the subsonics. CCI subsonic works very well, but any other seems to do just fine also. I had the same flyer problem with all standard and high velocity ammo. Subsonic ammo groups one ragged hole at 25yrd.

Wolf Match Target - .2-.3 inches @ 50 yds in my Savage Mark II "F" model and .3-.5 inches @ 50 yds with my Ruger 10/22 with Custom E.R. Shaw Heavy Barrel.

In my case, the Wolf Match Extra did not shoot as well as the Match Target, and costs a little more anyways...

Just yesterday I shot a .7 inch 5-shot group at 100 yds with the Wolf Match Target in my Mark II.

Have you ever tried the Wolf MT stuff? Can't imagine a supersonic round groups better than a subsonic target round.

Ditto. From all appearances SBS has his act together, but I can't imagine MiniMag's running anywhere near as accurate as some of $6/box range target subsonics.

Using Wolf MT, my Mark 2 will routinely put five shots in under .5" @ 50 yards. Every once in awhile it will even produce a 0.35"-0.40" outside to outside group.

Anyways, SBS, try them and post results; I want to see what a real shooter can do with this combo!

The problem is that for some reason the range I go to usually has a pretty good breeze, so I can never have any luck with anything subsonic. Another reason why I really love that 17. I'm a speedy kind of guy!

Re: Savage Mk II .22 LR ammo

Just got some Wolf Match Target. First 5-shot group at 60 yds, with air conditioned cold barrel, could cover with a quarter; next group could cover with a nickle, last group could cover with a dime. My rifle likes this stuff. Thanks one and all...
