Looking to get a savage mk 11 fv-sr with threaded 16.5" barrel. Found a few online relatively cheap but not sure if it is worth it. Anyone have one, shot one, etc? Thinking it would be a fun rifle to hunt little critters with and practice shooting for my.308 build

side note, anyone have one they are thinking about selling :)

Mine in a Boyd Tacticool stock with DIP bottom metal.

Nice little rifle, the factory stock is GARBAGE and should be replaced very quickly IMO. The rimfire Accutrigger doesn't adjust as light as a centerfire Accutrigger, but is still okay. Never tried proper match ammo like Eley, Wolf, Lapua, etc. but it shoots anything CCI well enough, mine gets a steady diet of Standard Velocity but also likes 40gr Mini-Mags and AR Tactical. Works well with my Huntertown Guardian suppressor.

did you paint the stock? I have been looking at the boyds "tactical" stock already :) my rimfire suppressor (spectre II) should be here towards the end of the summer and I can't imagine how quiet that rig is with subsonic ammo and a suppressor…. squirrels and bunnies might not have a clue whats going on till its too late

great looking rifle my friend.

You wouldn't happen to have a link to where I could get the longer bolts/screws and plate for the boyds stock would you? that and a place that actually has the stock in stock :)

yes out to 50 yrd does great, with good ammo.
mine also has a boyds tactical stock, as boiler said factory stock junk
I got it from a friend, who never shot it, don't know why.
being a tinker junkey, pillared bed, opened up barrel channel, a little, repainted
like I said with good ammo great out to 50yd, not so good with cheaper(hard to say that now days)stuff.
out to 100 yd all really opened up on group size, but that is not what it is for
I only need it to shoot good out to 50yd with the can on it, for yard pest.

Mine shoots well enough with good ammo, cheap ammo isn't worth shooting for accuracy or varmints. It's a good 22 to tinker with, tune & work to get better groups. Figure it might take a brick or two to settle down and start grouping well. Try everything you can find for loads, because 22's are usually picky on fodder. A good match barrel is different, a cheap barrel will like some types and really be lousy with others. In general, the high velocity stuff won't shoot as well as the standard velocity. Here's mine with a boyds stock.

Here's a target from 50 yards showing different types of ammo. It likes some better than others, but this is what you can expect for accuracy when you have things working and some of the "bugs" worked out. It will help you with shooting basics.

we had what we call range day, saturday. let me explain
local gunshope owner(lyndon's riverview soprts), every year as asked vendors to show up at our range, so range members an lyndon's invited customer, will have a chance to see, handle,an shoot, all there lastes gear,
YES IT WAS FREE; hot damm/shoot all i want for free. my shoulder is in pain today, but a sweet pain
now to my point the savage rep, had a FVSR with a pilot can on it, i would say aroud 800rd shot thur it
now the rifle was the rep's personal rifle in factory trim.
we talked about boyds, an he said he was going to replace his factory stock with a boyds tacticool.
as soon as the factory sent him another FVSR,(being a factory rep, got to leave it factory for public to handle)
when things shettled down i shot his rifle at 100yd(now remimber around 800rd already shot thur it)
with lead sled II, i shot a 5 shot group under 1" with pilot can. now the cool part
my rifle was in the truck, he wanted to finger my stock(Boyds tacticool)
he shot a 5 shot group under 7/8.with my ammo.
he asked what i was useing (win 42gr subs) we then put the pilot can on my rifle, with my ammo.
we had a blast you could hear the firpin fall, we had a crowed of people behind us, wanting to shoot that bb gun LOL thank goodnes i ran out of ammo 45rd so i put rifle back in truck.
my point here after 800rd with NO CLEANING an different types of ammo that little rifle still shot as true as any rifle i have seen
my HATS off to shannon an all his rep's for this range day
ps lots of 223,9mm,45acp,380,22lr,308,338L,an other shot that day plus some fine BBQ for lunch.
i know this was a great cost to Lyndon's an i thank you

Boiler, & Russ, i agree 100% cz455 whole lot of gun for the $
i(my sons do have both) FVSR, & CZ455 manners
me i shoot a MPR64
the savage does great at 50 yd that is what my son wanted it for
the cz455 jury still out, as after replaceing barrel with a lilja, an upgrade to a M5 trigger guard
all not back from smith getting coated, but in factory forum, it shot well out to 100yd
my son wants to use it in our TSC match that why the barrel upgrade.
my $750.00 annie MPR64 has put me in the money a couple of times last year.
an the top 3 finisher were MPR64 nuff said
we have a small(no a large) amount of money tied up in his cz455, just to try an beat me,
But the OP asked about the savage FVSR, an i posted what i know JM2C
an for a cheap fun rifle (with a can) hard to pass up on
that little rifle at range day never had a chance to cool off. an still held about 2MOA.

I really like mine. I don't believe you can get a bolt 22 for this price that will shoot as good in factory mode. that being said, I had to also replace the stock. Wish I would have gone with the boyds cause the Rhineland was a pain in the butt to get it to fit right. But it shoots really good now. Everything is factory except for the stock and it groups really well. I can cover up a 5 shot 50 yard group with a penny. And its really really quiet with a suppressor.
