Buy another Savage AccuTrigger online, and put it on yourself. They are available around the $100 range. The one you have may just need to be adjusted properly.

It is adjusted as far down as it will go and i am thinking of trying to cut some of the coils off the spring to see if that helps.

also my original trigger was from there LE series so i dont know if that made a difference in the trigger.

I have not seen any accutriggers for sale online and my only concern with that is getting another one like the one i have and wasting $100.

Long story short, my trigger broke in transit to getting a stock put on it so they replaced it with another accutrigger and that one sucks. it wont go lower than 4+ pounds.

so now i need a replacement trigger and i have been looking at the rifle basics Sav-2 and the timney.

does anyone have any experience with either of these?

I use all 3.

The Sav-2 is the best of the lot by far. It replaces the wobbly factory bracket and adds another lever internally. The supplied bracket requires fitting to your action. It's straight forward with a safe sided file. After that, the adjustments are similar to other Savage triggers.

I have an Accutrigger gun and didn't think it needed replacement. Its a newer bottom release model and there are several updates.

The Timney works well, but it nothing more than a better executed old style factory trigger with adjustments added.

I like the original accutrigger that it came with it but it broke and the replacement is shit.

is the Sav-2 real loose? i was reading on another forum where some engineer was saying that his was really loose. I know there is always a bad apple somewhere.

I'm an engineer, have been for 33 years. Worked my way through college as a mechanic and automotive machinist.

The Sav-2 comes too tight to fit on the action. If its too loose, someone made it that way after they opened the package. It has to be fit to each action by someone with at least a little mechanical aptitude and a decent file or milling machine. I have a mill, but did it with the file because it was faster than setting it up in the mill. It should be tighter than the other options because it completely replaces the stamped Savage trigger bracket. Mine is a light press fit to the action.

I have three Savage rifles. The first (top bolt release) was pre-Accutrigger and I simply upgraded to Sav2. Very nice 2.25lb trigger.

Second was bottom bolt release. Hunting rifle, the Accutrigger adjusted down to 2.75lbs and was good enough I kept it.

Third, top bolt release, I wanted to keep the Accutrigger and it set low enough but the timing was off re-cocking the blade. Put in a Sav2 at 2lb, very nice.

I always recommend the Sav2. In my experience the "snap" at the top end of bolt lift on a Savage can be due to mis-timing of the Accutrigger blade cocking.
